Man, ESPN and the NBA are really going all out promoting Wemby. I still don't know why Windhorst got the assignment of being his lapdog after already getting Lebron, but I guess he's proven himself in that role. I hope for Wemby's sake that he starts the season strong. I can see a lot of people getting pissed off from the over-coverage.

But how is any of that Wemby's problem? He can easily spend an entire career no giving a crap about Windhorst/media/"people" and their expectations. Look at Zion for example. Thick skin is not an exclusively American privilege :D

Not his fault at all. But I got 4 push notifications today from the NBA app telling me to check out his rookie photos then put on the Hoop Collective for Windhorst to tell me again why Wemby is so awesome and unique and how he went to France and totally hung out with him and it was so cool and he was so cool, and for some reason, i said under my breath: "man, **** Wemby" even though the guy has done nothing wrong

Oh gotcha... yeah I can relate, it's annoying. Those journos gotta make their living somehow I guess, and Wemby sells right now. Imagine if he had gone to the Lakers or something, Jesus Christ lol

Looks like Wemby is training with Melvin Sanders. Myles Turner out there training with him too. Good stuff

That French league is like 7th best league outside of nba. G league teams would beat them. But that’s all irrelevant the point is wemby needs to work on things and he isn’t using the opportunity to do so.

80% of the players in Summer League can't make a regular rotation in the best European leagues. And the average G-League team would be lucky to win more than 2-3 games in a season in any top European league.

Victor seems to have a pretty decent frame for how long he is. It'll be interesting to see how he fills out in a couple years.

Yeah it's my pet peeve. Everybody's happy they can take photos with their phones, however what they don't tell you is that phone photos suck. Because phones have an ultra small sensor, which means they need to have ultra wide lenses, which means anything towards the corners of the photo will be stretched to buggery.

Any rating for Wemby, customized, that actually reflects his current skillset? We couldn't find one for 2K23, it's just too OP always :D

When I made him in draft for my league, I made him 79 OVR. but that said, when I get the game, I manually tweak roster for like a long time before playing (I only play single player), and on average, my ratings are a bit lower than official rosters (79 OVR. is around or even higher than last years Zubac, Valanciunas, Vucevic, so I think thats fair for a 19 year old). 2k Still sucks, because 7'5 guy, especially Wemby, who is not complete stiff, will just be OP to no end in game (unless they really change 2k24, which they wont).

I actually ended drafting him in My league, and he is now 81 ovr, and he is like Wilt Chamberlain, its only his stamina and durabilty that kind of sucks, I sit him more sometimes just to avoid injuries, but hes putting 40/20 with 10 blocks per 36 minutes pretty much, its just stupid how OP size is in this game. Not taking any jumpshots, because he is so tall, he is just best paint player in the league, despite his strenght being in 40s. Game needs to improve and fix that, because the way I use Wemby, guy with that low strength would just be banged up and couldnt play that way consistently at all.

And I did everything with sliders to fix that, but cant fix exploits/cheeses of this magnitude. I bet we could easily play Fall into all star game with this gameplay, and Fall is 68 OVR, or smth like that?

True true on all fronts. A friend downloaded a custom roster with Wemby where he's rated 90+ or so and we nerfed him down to 80ish and still too OP. We even put him at 7'3" since that's the barefoot but still too OP in-game :D

Hey! What's OP mean, I only ever heard of it meaning Original Post, or Original Poster, but sounds like it means something different here.
Gosh I just realized, in nba2k24 we can put Yao Ming and Victor Wemb in the same league! Be so interesting to see how that rivalry goes....

In forums, yes, it can mean original post, but here, and in usual video game debates, as been said, OP usually mean - over-powered.

That's weird! Thanks for informing me though.
Will Wemby score most of his points close to the basket or most of his points from mid-range?

Jumpshots from further. His shot selection is really bad, I understand that he is just growing into his body yet and he is not a paint beast, but he is not willing at all, he settles for contested jumpshots way too much. I hope he follows JJJs footsteps, in his first 2 years JJJ was just floating around perimeter and shootings 3, nothing else, but this year it was like he had an epiphany that, yeah, he is bigger and more athletic than almost anyone, so he became much better offensive player for just being more aggressive and playing closer to the rim. Hopefully Victor turns into that guy, but he really wants to be Kevin Durant, despite him being 7'5 pretty much and athletic freak. Some guys just never want to be bangers, like Davis till this day is reluctant to play center position, and it is like - man, you are a center, like just go there and play basketball like a tall athletic freak.

Wow imagine being that tall and not playing big  this is going to be a really weird and fun rookie season for sure.
Interesting to see how many rebounds and blocks Wemby averages then....
Because Brandon Jordan Miller is my favorite rookie, and hope he can win Rookie Of The Year by outscoring Wemby, but if Wemby gets a lot of rebounds and blocks it will be super hard for Miller.

I know, right... Any1 can shoot jumpshots, not everyone can be fast 7'4 guy...

Wembys offensive game leaves a lot to be desired, it is mostly potential, but his defense and especially rim protection is amazing. He covers so much ground both horizontically and especially vertically, you can post his teammate and shoot a post hook, and a guy who defends you wont do anything, but wemby from few meters away will just take one step forward and will reach and deflect the ball still rising, its insane, I made a youtube mix of Wemby 2 years ago before it was cool, and I did use words modern Bill Russell in a title.
