Trump has NOT been perfect in this. He was slow overall in his response. I think his response has been MUCH better than the NY Times and MSNBC would have you believe, but it has been far from perfect. I really wish he would talk about 75% less during his daily briefings.
The media praised him for that and say he's been a complete failure at everything else.

This is absolutely not true. Facts matter and the media did not praise Trump, at the time, for closing the borders. Maybe FoxNews did, but they favor the President no matter what he does.

The problem is that you have 3 main news outlets in this country on TV. 2 are VERY liberal and lean towards an extremely positive view of democrats and an extremely negative view of conservatives. Those 2 outlets are CNN and MSNBC. Then you have the opposite with FoxNews. They favor conservatives very heavily and they are very negative towards liberals.

Its crazy. I actually like MSNBC the most because of the analysts they have but they are EXTREMELY biased in their coverage.

He didn't close the borders though. It's not even true!

Americans were still returning from China with no tests or quarantines. Tons of loaded flights back and forth to China.

"Closing the borders" isn't something that happened though, and even then is only a single tool that can be used. Like with everything Trump did it was a day late and a dollar short. Pretending he has handled this well because he "closed the border" is a lie, quite frankly, and also pretty ignorant about what the administration actually did, when they did it, and more importantly what they could have possibly done.

He stopped some flights from China and both sides praised him for that.

The right want people to believe that the left wanted to continue letting flights in from China and it could've been worse.

Closing the borders to China was a good move. I am not saying he has handled everything well. I am saying that aspect was a very important move. I think overall he has done an OK job. The ABC News poll released today shows that 55% approve of his handling of the crisis with 43% disagreeing. I think that is about fair.

I don't agree with Trump on much. I didn't vote for him in 2016 and I doubt I vote for him in 2020. At the same time I do not think he is covered fair by any of the 3 major US news outlets on TV, with 2 giving him poor coverage and 1 giving him favorable coverage.

On 31 January, the Italian government suspended all flights to and from China and declared a state of emergency.

Italy has been the first country to stop the flights to and from China... and it was a mistake.

Was better not close the direct flights and checking at airport the chinese in arrive... instead are returned in Italy from Europe... not tracked.

But he didn't actually do that until it was extremely late. All he initially enacted was a health questionnaire at a few west coast airports for flights coming from China. After the first infected patient had already flown in, mind you. Then he banned non citizens but didn't even check, test, or follow up with citizens returning from China. It was even worse with the European travel restrictions. I posted that CNBC rundown for you to read, it spells out what happened and when pretty clearly. He did everything he possibly could during the first month of the pandemic to downplay the seriousness, including praising China's response.

And that's if we actually buy your statement that shutting down travel is an important step (unless it's done extremely early):
https://www.vox.com/2020/3/12/21176669/travel-ban-trump-coronavirus-china-italy-europe

The administration has actively made the problem in the US worse through their inaction, and now terrible senate bill that provides little to no actual relief for people, and even now are using the cover of the crises to try ad scrap the ACA, dump million of people off SNAP and food stamps, and push through anti union legislation. The idea the Trump admin is handling things well is a hilarious fraud. You have been sold a bill of goods.

I did not vote for Donald Trump in 2016. I likely will not vote for him in 2020. At the same time I do not hate him. While I understand exactly what FoxNews is, I also understand exactly what MSNBC and the NY Times are. Calling me "Trump's base" is ignorant. Facts matter.

I mean you're right, it's not. That said, how much BS floods in here because someone has an agenda. If you're going to call someone out for it you better back up your own claims (something you have done well and I thank you for that). This thread would be so much better if the Trump bashing was strictly done over policy and not peoples personal opinions of him.
