2025 NBA PLAYOFFS East Semifinals: #2 Boston Celtics vs #3 New York Knicks (NYK leads 1-0)

What I’m seeing from a lot of posters is that they can’t give the Knicks credit for coming back from down 20 to win this game. Because they thought this would be an easy sweep for the Celtics. Now, that the Celtics lost, it’s because they played bad :lol:

That’s exactly the damn point
Neither team was not up to par health wise
Brown was not healthy that last game
The Knicks were not healthy the first three games and the first game overall was the first Knick game together period.

Now that the series starts 0-0, it’s a lot closer, health permitting
And let’s not get it twisted, I’m fully aware KP exited the game which is a big piece

Which is kind of the point. Health was a factor for both teams in the regular season...so we don't know how these teams stack up at 100%...but for one team, it is not currently a factor...so we're seeing a higher level than in the regular season...while it does still appear to be a factor for the other, unfortunately. If the Celtics can't get healthy before the series is over, than whether they could or couldn't beat us at 100% won't matter...just like whether we could or couldn't have beaten the Pacers at 100% last year, didn't matter.

Hopefully that's not the case, because win or lose, it's fun to test yourself against the best at their best...but if we're talking about predicting this series, that does look like it could be a factor that swings things against the Celtics.

Celtics had similar issue vs Magic as well, they had those black holes where for several min they couldn't generate good looks. But unlike vs Magic, Knicks used those holes to cut lead.

One thing i liked about Celtics in series vs Magic is how they adjusted to fact that Magic will cut 3 FGA from them. Now in this one they took 60 threes. In a game where nobody was hot from distance.

Due offensive rebounds Celtics generated 10 FGA more, but simply continued to jack those 3s. Felt like that 27-misses in a row Rockets game. Sometimes you need to know when to stop and seek for different solution.

Again, most surprising to me was lack of adjustment, same adjustment they made vs Magic without much issues.

Too many threes - even for the Celtics.

Need to get back to playing downhill and putting pressure at the rim. The Knicks only real rim protector is Robinson and I can’t see him getting many mins this series (after Joes hack a Robinson).

I expect Celtics to bounce back game 2.

Celtics taking 60 3s is waste and does a disservice to basketball, not a Celtics for a myriad of reasons, but the spamming of 3s is another one to add to that list.

Just finished and I'm weirdly feeling better about our chances than I was when I just saw how poorly boston shot. They missed some 3s they shouldn't, but they also missed plenty of bad 3s. Shooting regression is the obvious low-hanging fruit for them, but there's plenty of low-hanging fruit for the knicks to clean up too. The FT shooting, the rebounding, & the turnovers, being top of mind...Karl staying out of foul trouble would be huge too, he was really cooking when he picked up that 3rd foul.

Anyways really fun opener to what should be a great series!

People keep talking about the Celtics 3s like they never watched them before. That’s what they do. That’s damn near all they do.

Look at last playoffs. Every single round they declined in 3 pt % yet took the same amount of 3s. They shot their most amount of 3s all playoffs in the finals and also shot their worst % in the finals.

Their shooting isn’t sustainable in the post season. It gets worse and worse. And this time they don’t have the luxury of playing 3 injured teams on the way to the finals where they play the 3rd or 4th best team in the western conference.

Can’t believe yall let this team trick you

Not concerned at all, we beat them in a close meaningless for us game in NY. If the guys underperform they may lose, if they play up to their potential, I see us in 5. Shooting ~.330 from the field and losing by 3 isn’t much of a concern to me either. We were 2nd in OFRTG, doubt we shoot .330 again this series.
Let’s see how next game goes and I’d judge from there. Funny all home teams lost so far… including the favorites to me- OKC and CLE

They ranked #4-5th all time in the most important stars and won 64 games. They were close to MJs best Bulls and the Warriors. It’s super disrespectful to write that post, which shows you lack knowledge in basketball and don’t like the Celtics. Which is the reason you’re probably here after 1 game.

The Knicks can beat the Celtics in this series if they:
- Contest Celtics' three point shots, just don't foul the shooter.
- Secure the rebounds, especially on the defensive end. You just cannot let the Celtics have multiple looks from three.
- Play smart, do not turn the ball over.

Y'all think shooting too many threes is our downfall when in reality it's gonna be the Knicks giving up too many open looks.

They won't shoot that bad for an entire 7 game series.
