Maybe not, but if Granger and Hedo can do it (both of which signed stuff for fans who were wearing the jerseys of their opponents for the night), then I don't see why anyone else can't.

Will loved to sign autographs and was easy to hang around, Bill Russell went years without signing a single autograph for anyone. As it was said before, Garnett is a full-time pro who's very private. He gives back to the community in other ways. Do you also criticize guys who don't give to charity a % of their salaries similar to the one Garnett donates? I really don't understand why you can't respect that and get mad at this. And yeah, I'd take the anecdote over the signature 100/100.

C'mon man, it's not like the remark was even all that witty. I'd take a signed ball any day of the week over "You have a better chance of catching Bin Laden".

Also, I don't know how much of a percentage Garnett donates to charity, and neither do you, by the sound of it. Plenty of players donate to charity, Dwight, Wade, Lebron, that's nothing new. Not all of them make a big deal out of it either, like Garnett doesn't.

Being private doesn't mean you are exempt from autographs. You don't have to be friends with the kid, an autograph takes what? 5 secs? He didn't ask him to be his friend.

I'm not mad, obviously, it wasn't me. Just saying, it's kind of a **** move. You're the one being defensive.

Also, players must continue to operate without any perspective. 3 seconds to move your hand around in circles is much too much to ask someone who helps pay your salary. There is a line player must not cross. They are the players, the ones we cannot live without. The fans are the ones who are out of bounds.

To the celtics, the Lakers are the enemy. To the Lakers, the celtics are the enemy. They have each stood in the way of recent championships.And when looking at its complete history, its one of the most celebrated rivalries in spots.

One of the reason that rivalries are so compelling, is because the players take it very very seriously. Its not just another game. I know you were being sarcastic, but when talking about a rivalry, it is serious to the players. IF it was not, then it would not be a rivalry.

Oh and by the way, any laker fan whos dream job it is to be a ball boy (hell I would take the job and I make a goodt living) court side games and all should not be asking for KGs autograph. The kid might just be a fan of the game, and appreciates great players.

Garnett could even be his favorite player. Doesn't mean he loves the Celtics, or want them to win. Kobe is my absolute favorite player, but I'm not a Lakers fan. If I got the opportunity, I wouldn't hesitate to ask him for an autograph.

ESPN pointed out that the 12 meetings the lakers and celtics have seen each other in the finals is the most of any 2 teams in a championship series of all 4 major sports in the history of the 4 major (US) sports.

KG (and any of the other dickish players who refuse to sign autographs/act like dicks to fans) really need to remember why it is that they're able to make millions of dollars a year playing a game. It's the fans, our interest in the game and the money that we spend that pays for their astronomical salaries, so even if you don't really want to take the 5 seconds it would take to sign some kids hat, at least have the decency to not be an ass about it. If it weren't for the fans you'd be a nobody.

And if it wasnt for him, or other dicks like him, you wouldn't be a fan. Its a double edged sword. With all the fan days etc he does willingly and happily (its an accepted fact that off the court, KG is a nice reserved and fun guy), for him to be "a dick" when he's in game mode (again, widely accepted that he is a different person on the court) is no big deal. Really, who cares? He's keeping the most storied rivalry in this washed out league alive. Im happy about it - Sucks watching your favourite league and them all being buddies ON and off the court. ****, in australia in the rugby league "All star game" equivilant, you have guys who are on the same team for club games, literally beating the **** out of each other for the rivalry.
Kg is doing the same playing in that rivalry.
Embrace it instead of finding little things to bicker about all day.
