I'm sick of this . bulls need to enter this sweepstakes. 2nd round pick to okc for Anthony morrow. If all it takes is a crapy pick to become major contenders. How bout tony Snell for Kevin martin. The gm`s are drunk for already championship teams so why not join in. Waiters got gift wrapped to okc for bordenline trash. Caves lose one player and gain 3 needed players. Hell let's trade taj Gibson for LA Marcus aldridge

yeah they traded one player for a guy that is worse and plays the same while adding another who's likely to bust out of the league and seemingly always injured. Then they replace Verajao with Mozgov when the former is the better of the two. I don't see how they've gotten better at all unless you're really in the business of overvaluing Mozgov.

Usually when people talk about if a deal makes a team better they are referring to the team before the trade and the team after the trade. I'm not sure why your definition includes a comparison from before Andy is injured, lol. If the Lakers traded Nash for Westbrook tommorow would that make them better, or is the answer no because that '85/86 team was really stacked?

Because i'm looking at the whole picture, not whether or not they are slightly better today than yesterday. The point is with Varejao they were far from looking like contenders. Now they replace the loss of Varejao with a player that isn't as good as him. Thus they still don't look like contenders while also sending two first round picks out with one that could end up being a lottery pick.

Even though they paid a lot for a player of his caliber, this is a good move. The cavs are in win-now mode, and if this move pans out well the team will have a better chance of winning it all. They have to go all-out while Lebron is still in his prime, since he's on the tail-end on his prime so waiting is not an option.

Statistically, he's pretty much only better than Varejao at blocking.

Sooooooooooo this move means nothing :D

Eh, it just means they are replacing an injured player. I don't think it's a "puts them over the top" move. They did what they had to do. Can't fault them for that, but, like I said, I think it'd be wise not to start up the "team to beat in the East" conversation just yet.

Sauces say Love got tired of being the guy in other teams posters and told GM Lebron to get the Mozgov deal done.

I really don't think this trade for the Cavs. Trading two first round picks for a guy that in my opinion doesn't fit what the Cavs need. Yes the Cavs need a staring caliber center, but I think he is too slow to help on the defense side to pick up other players man.

Cavs definitely played this correctly. Instead of giving up Dion & a pick or their only 2 1st's for Moz, they got another 1st to flip & got Moz while keeping all of their own picks. I also think people are underrating Shump's place in all of this. My bro is a Cavs/Dion fan, before the season started I told him the team would be better with a defense 1st player like Tony Allen in Dion's spot. Obviously Shump is no Tony Allen but probably the closest they could come to that while also getting the extra 1st they needed. I expect a very strong finish from Cleveland, the pieces fit now.

If the Cavs can now grab Dalembert that's a really deep roster. It would be even deeper if Varejao wasn't injured.

Get ready to curse at the TV/Box Score as Shaw plays Hickson 30 minutes a night at center.

I really do think this is a great trade for both teams. Yes, it's absolutely an overpay for Mozgov. However, he is a massive improvement over anyone the Cavs have and he instantly makes their team substantially better.

Unlikely since Mosgov has an extra year at a very cheap amount while Koufos is a free agent after this year.

Probably only 1 pick was offered.

Personally, two first rounders is an overpay. And I really like Mozgov.

I think the rationale is, Lebron is already starting to show signs of wear and tear. He might have 3-4 years left tops where he is at a level where the Cavs can truly contend. The reality is once the wheels fall off Lebron, the Cavs title hopes are zero.

So the Cavs GM + Ownership decided to cash in all their chips and go for it now, with the title window fairly open with no Shaq + Kobe type teams out there, and try to get a ring in the next 2-3 years.

If it doesn't work, going to be a rebuild anyways once Lebron falls off and most of the guys they have picked up are still in their 20's, so at least you aren't starting from scratch.

So Cleveland turned Dion Waiters and the Memphis pick (Which looks like it's going to be in the 28-30 range) for Iman Shumpert, JR Smith and Mozgov? Wow. Great set of moves. Even if you hate JR, he's a bench guy and when he sucks, back to the bench he goes. But Mozgov and Shump dramatically improve their defense. These are guys who will be solid rotation guys even when the whole team is healthy.

denver gets....idk. unless they are planning on consolidating later, they let a valuable piece go for marginal assets.

Nothing against Cleveland as I'm sure they are pleased but Denver getting two firsts for a role player is insane value for us.

Yeah, Mosgov was always viewed as option #1, even going back to the summer.

Mozgov is a decent player but thats all he is, he is getting overrated real fast. It was an overpay but the Cavs needed to shore up the Front Court so it was needed. In a way it was a Win-Win but 2 First Round Picks is not indicative on the caliber of player Mozgov is who is being rid of for a rookie in Nurkic.
