It's not huge, but the #3 pick costs about $1 mil less than the #1 pick on their rookie deal. I know the Celtics have to do a little maneuvering for Hayward so every bit helps.

IT
Butler
Hayward
Horford

With Brown & Jackson or Tatum developing could likely push the Cavs next year.

Lol wat? If Philly takes Lonzo the Lakers will gladly take the better player and best prospect in the draft.

Also 3 picks for #1 is generally the cost to be the boss. Look up the track record of number 1 picks you're pretty much guaranteed to draft an all-star. Sixers would have 2 back to back number 1 picks. I honestly don't know what Ainge is doing here. He should just take Fultz.

i don't see that at all. If Boston can heavily upgrade their roster with a Butler or whomever , then maybe they can overtake a burned out LeBron and co.

I agree with this assessment depending who they can add. I think the Cavs are in the finals again next year for sure, but if Boston signs Blake and trades for PG13 or Butler I don't see Cleveland beating them past next year.

Or just maybe it's predicated on who the Lakers take at 2.

Yea good point. I think we'll see Fultz picked first by Boston and then the Lakers selection. Then Boston either will or will not go through with the trade. It makes no sense for Boston to do this trade prior to the draft.

The fact that we're discussing it is one reason why Sixers fans don't trust Bryan.

Nothing goes down until the Lakers officially announce their pick. But I like this deal for both sides, a little more for the Celtics though

Im not so sure about that. i actually think that Magic was THRILLED that he got the #2 instead of 1, because now he doesn't have to justify taking Ball over fultz

Celtics wouldn't have to trade anyone after this trade in order to have max salary cap space

This would be a catastrophic awful trade for the Celtics if it's just #3 and Lakers pick next year. This is a type move that will have a huge impact on the Celtics in a good or bad way. Ainge is gambling big time while not taking the safe route in already a great position. Very very risky and is giving some of us Celtics fans a heart attack right now.

This is a really interesting move for both parties. The motivation for Philly is obvious. Not sure I totally understand the move for Boston. I get that you have a ton of guards, but I'm not sure that gearing up for Butler is the answer. If they were gearing up for Anthony Davis or DeMarcus Cousins, I could see it. Is the difference between Butler and Bradley really worth Fultz?

i dont think this is their motive at all. i think Ainge just like someone better than Fultz now and hes using his leverage of having the #1 pick to trade down and still get his guy. Maybe he uses the extra assets from the trade to get a Butler or george?? he would essentially then have turned the #1 pick into his favorite prospect, PLUS one of those blockbuster guys

Sixers will have an incredible core if they can pull this off. I'm not sure what Boston would be thinking.. Josh Jackson, seriously??

I really think them and some other GMs are playing the long game with Jackson and see him reaching his 2 way potential.

Even if the Lakers had the number 1 pick they'd go with Fultz because he's the better prospect. The whole Ball to LA is more type than substance as evidenced by Ball participating in a second workout and suddenly deciding to start working out for other teams.

Doubt it. #3 pick + another first rounder gets it done most likely.

I love Fultz's fit for Philly.

The thought of turning Philly into a powerhouse while we get stuck with a team of really good players is scary...
