They killed the myth that you can’t be a good defensive team with two smaller scoring guards starting in the backcourt.

No, Joe Dumars and Isiah Thomas killed that myth decades ago. ;)

It's really quite easy.... Blazers were rolling with Mason Plumlee a severely injured Ed Davis for about 1/3 of the season, and Meyers Leonard.

The minute Nurkic hit the floor last year Blazers played like a top 10 defense. Now they've got Nurkic, Collins, and a healthy Ed Davis... Having a competent backline is the most important part of a good defense.

Whoa, Lillard hit a deep three right after the ESPN commentator talks about how Lillard can step up with his scoring when his playmaking isn't getting it done. Bang. :o

Portland would be smart to not overpay for Nurkic and let Collins take over the C spot next season.

Will help the owners with the ridiculous lux taxes they are owed too so maybe this could’ve been the plan all along.

Collins is a tad undersized to be a C let alone a starting one. Yeah, once he bulks up a bit we will likely be starting him as either a C or PF.

Don't get me wrong I am enthused by the Collins pickup from the draft, but he needs a few years to be a solid starter.

Lillard's been really passive to start this game, I'd expect him to be more aggressive in the second half. Although I think some of it has to do with how much interior contact the refs are letting happen on both sides of the ball. Seems hesitant to drive all the way to the rim a bit.

lol best thing POR can hope for is Nurk-Collins combo, they compliment each others game perfectly

Nurk is the main reason for POR much, much improved defense, he anchors the defense, hes also one of the very best rim protectors in the league, which Collins can be too... Nurk is 23, Collins is 20, that could be a great frontcourt down the road, on both ends of the floor... lets just hope they both develop as expected

Yeah, the only way we let Nurkic walk is if he starts receiving insane offers in free agency. I think Portland happily will match any offer around 15 million or less. We may go higher than that, but that will be a tad more iffy and depending on other factors.

It's crazy how as soon as Lillard gets just a smidgen of momentum Portlands offense kicks into high gear and just looks incredible. The amount of pressure he puts on a defense to show hard and high of the pick and roll just opens everything up.

He can get super sloppy with it... But you always see these games and plays where he makes you think he'll eventually clean it up. His big thing is that he needs to spend all summer tightening up his ball handling in the post, he dribbles way too loose and it often makes him waste too much motion.

That was terrible by us(Houston) tonight. Played sloppy and missed a ton of shots.

Portland looks so lost when Lillard isn't running the offense, offense just bogs down and looks terrible.

Spoelstra is overachieving with this roster.

Miami never gives up. With that said their offense is insanely bad.
