Perhaps, but his take was very logical. This thread is the opposite.

They got a chip as a consolation prize and now need to rebuild without even getting to defend their title. At least Cleveland got 2 additional years of LeBron.

I don’t think Raptors need full rebuild, we still have solid roster with few aging vets and good young prospects. I think we need to stay competitive and with some luck find another gem/steal in the draft.

Why feel bad for a team that traded for a player whose camp told everyone that he’d sign with LA in 2019?

People just assumed that winning the championship or a deep playoff run MIGHT entice him to stay.

Nobody should feel bad for Toronto

Disagree. How logical is it when Kawhi is the first FMVP ever to bail on his team to a different team? That is a fact, in that he made an unprecedented move that nobody else has ever done. That is not normal.

We have a right to feel this way so telling us to act otherwise is just silly. We don't go around telling others how they feel.

“Every” might be a little much given he missed like 1/3 of the season. But certainly a title is a title. Still sucks when your title defense ends about 3 weeks after you win the title.

AJ_Joseph wrote:They took a balsy risk on trading for Kawhi and the city showed him nothing but love. Jurrasic Park was something epic that hasn't been seen before. Now who knows when we'll ever get that type of fandom from a city. Definitely not the Clippers in LA. Jared Dudley said on Woj's Podcast that when he was on the Clippers (when they were good) it was still a Laker city even though the Lakers sucked.

Toronto showed Kawhi the time of his life and even won a championship. They deserved Kawhi more than both LA teams. Now we have to watch the Clippers dominate while chumps like Beverley run their mouth the entire time. Yuck.

They won their FIRST ever ring!!

Now they continue the rebuild. They are still a tough out and a playoff team, just not a top contender but who knows especially in the East.

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

The Raptors are just 1 Kyle Lowry "The West still runs through Toronto" comment from morphing into the Cavs

And yes, I feel bad for Toronto-they finally got to the top with a deserving fanbase and got the rug pulled out.

I feel bad for raptors for its share of stupid fans crying. Oh no, we traded for a guy who didn't want to be here, on his contract year, never said he will stay, but he still played his mind out and earn the franchise its first championship, boohoo

Toronto fans don't need sympathy, they took a big risk and won a championship. That's a huge achievement.

Plus nobody is complaining about how Kawhi has contributed to the team's success throughout the entire season and we are all grateful to him for that. So don't tell us to be grateful when we already are. I take offense to the tone of that message.

Many of us are disappointed that he's the first FMVP ever to decide to move onto another team, there's nothing wrong with that. You can try to tell us how to act and feel and we can tell you to bug off.

I'm feeling pretty positive.

Masterful play from the Clippers. Yet another powerhouse in what will be arguably the bloodiest bloodbath in Western Conference history. Their team is probably one of the most awesome collections of players I've ever seen.

I'll be happy to see them kick the **** out of the Lakers. Not that I have anything against the Lakers as a franchise. I'm just tired of Lebron James.

Loving how plenty of great players are spreading around the league. Don't think I've ever been as excited for an NBA season.

Raptors have a title from arguably the greatest trade of all time. They will chug along to their 5th straight 50+ win season. This team right now is better than it was with DD.

Masai will finally get to rebuild this team from the ground up for the first time since he got here. I can assure you, he's probably excited about that challenge.

They got a championship which would make them more significant & successful than half of the teams in the league. If I were a supporter of the team, I will savor it and lived a full life as a fan...

Everyone knew he wanted to go to LA. The same Raptor fans that are complaining now, were saying that they were perfectly fine with him going to LA during last offseason. You knew the risks. This was never going to Kobe/Lakers, Magic/Lakers, Bird/Celtics, Jordan/Bulls. If you want that, go and draft a GOAT player instead of trading one that announces before hand he wants to live in another city before hand. I look forward to Kawhi being booed when he returns to Toronto. It'll remind of when KD's injury was cheered.

Don’t feel bad. They won a title, they still have a very good team that will probably win a playoff series, and they have one of the best young players in the game in Siakam. If you’re gonna feel bad for someone, feel bad for one of the **** up teams going nowhere like Charlotte or Washington.

I know. The reason the Raptors got a player like Kawhi at a cheap cost is the reason he left. He wanted to play for the Clippers. The Raptors traded for his contract and extracted the maximum possible value out of it and couldn't change his mind.
