Accurate Player Heights Predictions

Post#162 » by NO-KG-AI » Mon Oct 7, 2019 7:06 am

It’s been a topic of discussion in player comparisons and has been used to prop up, denigrate, or build an argument for/against players. It’s used as part of the formula in predictive statistical models and betting.

It’s relevant data, and it’s getting more clarity now.

And like was said before, nobody is mad about getting the shoe measurement. We’re just happy to get some illumination on players that fans and teams claimed have grown 3 inches and that they are being undersold by NBA height listing

Statistically it is very rate to grow after this age. Yes it happens but it is rare. I believe they listed him 6'9" even in first year.

Teams are measuring and reporting their own players so if he asked to try to get close enough to only drop to 6'8" it could easily be done.

Every post of yours has been about downplaying everybody's height. Why are you so concerned about that?

I'm not trying to downplay anyones height. But I do know teams and players did not want this new policy and they are the ones who got to report the heights. Also only the Sixers so far (at least check) have offered up exact measurements to the quarter inch. If those are truthful they are the only ones we have real info on. For example we do not know yet if zion was 6'5 1/2" and rounded up. We may never know.

I can tell you as a former player height listings mean more to a lot of players than the average person might imagine. And if teams wanted to list guys shorter they'd have been doing it on their own the last 35 years.

It really doesn't matter. If someone is significantly shorter than the listed height, we can all see it anyway. I don't care about quarter inches, even as a european who meausures in cm.

I would say he is exactly 6'0''. I don't think he is shorter than Kemba.

Why are you assuming Kemba is exactly 6'0"? Celtics used full inches so Kemba eadily could have checked in al 5'11 1/2" (if they were even honest to begin with).

I don't think he is exactly 6'0''. He is probably quarter inch shorter, so they rounded it up. 182 cm would have always been my guess for him.

Kemba was 5’11.5 at the draft combine years back and likely is there again now:

I’m surprised Ben Simmons is 6 9.5. He’s got short arms with makes him look smaller.

Arm length plus height plus leaping ability. Those combinations matter most for non perimeter players.

6'9" in his Lebrons. No chance of that barefoot. Who knows what they will say with teams reporting heights that they nor players wanted reported and NBA not there to view the measurments

Agreed. Maybe at best 5'11 1/2" and rounded up.

I always knew that Howard was shorter than his listed height. I’ve seen pictures of him and LeBron standing next to each other and he’s only an inch taller than LeBron.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation
