Incredible and horrifying at the same time. According to what I've read about the clusters in Italy the first 3 cases weren't related to the cluster in Lombardy. That explains why there is such a huge gap (3 weeks, bigger than the maximum incubation period) between those 3 cases and the Lombardy cluster.
I know we don't seem as concerned to places that only have a few cases but they are going to grow.

Which is why the praise for West Virginia having no cases is asinine, they've done 84 tests.

The US is on the same trajectory. Who knows how it will look over the next week as we ramp up testing.

The #s are going to explode. I'm guessing this thing is everywhere and our numbers are orders of magnitude lower than reality. We still are behind on testing and really got to semi-reasonable status in the last 2 days or so.
No one knows they have it for a week or two and then you're sick for a while before you get really sick. In that time you can infect 2 or 3 people, then they can infect 2 or 3 people, and so on.

I'm sure it's already everywhere. Tons of college kids were on spring break last week and have now all gone back home.

Spain! That trajectory is frightening :o National shut down has finally come. There will have to be global co-operation to send relief and supplies as one country goes out of the worst of it and can help another.

Are there international agreements in place about transparency in health crises? If not, there ought to be, especially as these viruses and other diseases are borderless.

Welp. Due to this crises my new job has decided to freeze hiring for now mid background check. They said they still want me, and promise I have a job, but need to wait it out for a bit. Thank God I didn't quit current job yet.

Not that we don't have fellow Italian posters in here that have been telling us the exact same stuff but here it is in video form:

And I am left with nothing but an oath that gleams like a sword

Somehow people think this makes sense even though the same scenario keeps playing out. This is socialism for the wealthy while the average person is told to pull themselves by their bootstraps while basic things like government-funded education and healthcare are demonized.

It's crap, but we do need an airline industry. The cruise industry however can kindly go f*** off. They did the same thing and can go bankrupt and let someone else buy the assets and start anew.

The Federal government does not really imagine how bad this could get and how quickly. They are still dragging their feet on baby steps when we need Gianis size steps right now.

The solutions won't be easy but the problem is pretty obvious.

How many millions of people work in retail, food service, cosmetology, travel/tourism, janitorial, security, etc.

A huge percentage of them are going to be out of a job. That has to be a significant portion of the population.

Strict provisions need to be put into place so that taxpayers get their money back eventually. I'm extremely skeptical that this will be the case with the current government.
