RJ is nice and he’ll be good but I think Williams will be better

We can agree to disagree.

Idk how you think someone who scored I think 9.8 point per compared to rj’s rookie year 16.4 ppg is better..

I think Patrick will score 12ppg this year if even. But good luck I like seeing new talent succeed

There’s more to the game than PPG…

I like RJ, especially as a Canadian, but if I had to pick between the 2 I’m taking Williams without a doubt

So we're just going to ignore that Barrett had a really good defensive season as well? RJ was one of the main reasons the Knicks had a top 5 defense last year and also became sniper from deep which was supposed to be his biggest weakness on offense coming into the league. Not to mention he's a great rebounder for his position as a wing.

I swear no other player at his age given what he's already produced at an all around level would be this disrespected, but since he's not Zion or Ja he is

As a knicks fan who was really high on Patrick Williams as a prospect and really low on RJ Barrett coming out, I can certainly understand folks who think Pat will hit an even higher peak...but RJ really makes me hesitant about predicting when he'll actually stop improving.

I do think RJ will be surpassed defensively by Williams, if he hasn't been already, but I'm not sure how big that gap will be and I think both have the talent to become title caliber #2s offensively...if not the lead guys on a title-winning team. It's hard to expect even knowing Barrett's drive & work ethic, but there's certainly enough early-Butler & early-Middleton to his game for me to have a tough time picking between these two kids that I'm very high on (now)...and who I still wish we had landed in the draft to pair with RJ for the forseeable future.

One thing I do worry about is Williams' offensive opportunities in the short term, but he's still so young that that's not a significant concern...just something to keep an eye on & reassess in a year's time.

You're overstating it. Bullock was our best perimeter defender, while Mitch was holding things together in the early going...when guys were still figuring out what Thibs wanted from them. RJ & Julius were both very good defenders last season; who played important parts in the success of the whole, but it would be over the top to claim either one was "one of the main reasons" for our defensive success.

The thing with RJ is that it's tricky to predict his ceiling because he's not a premier athlete & we haven't yet seen him prove himself a highlevel self-creator. I have been won over by his work ethic & drive, but it's still hard to predict if that makes him a Middleton/Butler hybrid in the making, or just a nice starter who put things together early. Precocity isn't the same thing as potential, and all that.

Not true at all actually. Bullock took harder assignments because RJ had a heavier load offensively sure.. but there's no discernible difference between the 2 in terms of impact defensively. RJ is a much better off ball defender than Bullock is and can switch onto more matchups because he has more strength and size on that end. Their net ratings defensively were nearly identical with the other off the floor and without Mitch out there.

RJ was one of the better wing defenders in the league last year and no one seems to care or seeks to minimize his impact on that end

Knicks have picks and a bunch of movable contracts for another star. I like our future better than the Bulls
