Re: Celtics are interested in Ben Simmons [Shams]
The problem with Simmons isn't just his shooting. Its how certain are you that within a few days of trading for him that he'll be magically over his mental issues and ready to play at close to the level he was at last year? I mean I think we all assume he will but I also think there's a chance he isn't for w/e reason and his mental stuff is some kind of ongoing problem with him. That sort of thing has happened before where athletes end up taking a year or so off for mental reasons.

Simmons would fit right into their toxic locker room.

There is no magic. It will take time. Though since part of his issues are his current work situation, a trade likely does help.
But any team trading for him understands his contract has 4 years left. He doesn't have to show up and be all-NBA again on day 1 for a trade to really benefit them.
And I don't understand why every made up hypothetical is worst case scenario. What if he comes to a new team where he feels wanted and valued and absolutely thrives? What if that new team is able to get through to him about the importance of shooting on occasion to keep the defense honest? What if their shooting coach forms a bond with him and he develops into a solid FT shooter erasing his concerns late in games about being fouled?
Why are the hypotheticals always only negative lol?

That's my point though, I think the assumption is that a new team/situation will magically solve his mental issue with playing bb. Obviously there are best case scenarios as well but I think this scenario(lingering mental issues which might not get solved this season or even the season after) are something teams might have to consider when trading for him. More so than him starting to shoot more and becoming a better player.

His only mental issue is continuing to find avenues to keep getting paid without playing for a team he quit on. That dude is a disgrace for using this as is .

That's what I think most people think is going on. Even so, he probably will need a while to get fully bb ready but there's also a chance that he is mentally fragile at this point and will continue to find ways to stay off the court. No one knows for certain.

How about 3 way with the Kings?
To kings - Smart, RWIII, picks
To celtics - Simmons
To sixers - Fox

Boston is probably a good environment for a guy who crumbles under criticism lol. That said this is the most boring iteration of the Celtics that has existed in a long time and anything to break up the monotony is welcome. I look forward to seeing Stevens get some distance from the rocky end of Ainge's tenure.

Primarily, you dont need supporting cast. You need a guy to run the offense who can also score. I.e. you need a star, make it superstar if you want to become a contender.
You can either try keep the pair and hope that you can find the third star or trade one of them as their skillset is overlapping. It's the Celtics choice but to me its clear that they are (and should be ) troubled with the team's performance and the viability of Brown/Tatum as the guys on the team.
So you suggest we trade Brown for Simmons because the Celtics need a star who can score
You want the Celtics to trade a SG, with arguably one of the best contracts in the league, who is averaging 25.6 points on elite efficiency and 6 rebounds a game for someone who has made 5 3-point shots in his career and has mental issue.
I was talking about a Tatum/Braun trade in general. A Brown-Simmons trade might happen only if the Sixers add picks and/or things are bad in the Celtics locker room and the team is forced to trade one of Tatum/Brown.
The Celtics are looking for win-now players, not more picks/things which they've had plenty in the past.
I disagree Tatum and Brown can't co-exist but agree it can be debated. That said, if Brown is available for trade, Simmons on Max Salary - who can't/won't shoot from past 10 ft, disappears in crunch time in the playoffs, can't make FT's and has mental issues - is not the answer. The Celtics can do better than Simmons as the best player in return for Brown.

Honestly, in a vacuum i believe that a Tatum/Simmons pair is a better building block than Brown/Tatum. However, with the current Simmons situation, the Celtics like any team will try to acquire Simmons for peanuts. Regardless, any Simmons - Brown trade would be almost impossible anyway as both teams are in the same conference and both are looking to win.

don't feel too bad - it's most likely pretty close to what really happened.

It’s Morey signaling what he think the market value is for Simmons lol
If I was the Celtics I’d only do it if they got Curry too, and maybe you can give back Schroder with Brown.

There’s a risk there, that’s real, but my take from having watched Simmons for years now is that he’d go back to pretty much normal if he hopped onto a new team. Simmons loves competing and always plays hard, he just doesn’t like doing anything outside of his comfort zone on or off the court. Who knows what his issues are exactly but they all swirl around that, and I believe he wants more than anything just to go back to playing like he did last RS or the year before—doing his thing on both ends and trying to win games that way.
The issue I’d be more worried about is a few years down the line—while he could have quit just because of the pressure and the media berating, it wasn’t exactly some terrible unbearable thing that won’t ever possibly happen again. If I’m trading a huge package I’d be worried that he’ll fold again and not withstand a little criticism when things inevitably don’t go as planned.

All of that plus just his general performance level in the last playoffs which started all of this. The chance that you are trading for an all star who plays like that in 4th quarters of big games. gms have to be considering all of this on top of his huge contract.

Re: Celtics are interested in Ben Simmons [Shams]
shoulda asked for Tatum.. Tatum and Simmons two overrated bums who would really lose that trade.. all jokes aside, Simmons just playin out of position he could play SF for them and be a point forward who isn’t necessarily just focusing on distributing he would be attacking more because he’s not the “point guard”
