But there's one glaring hole with that lineup.... outside shooting. LeVert is alright but IMO the Cavs need a real knockdown shooter (a guy like Hield, Trent, etc.)

I don't think the Cavs are done yet.

They're done. Their team chemistry is great, they won't tinker too much. They wanted to add a scorer, and they just did.
The Cavs at minimum need to move Pangos for a top 55 protected 2nd rounder or the draft rights to an overseas player. Goodwin needs to be on the 15 man roster as insurance.

I would say followed by exploring what the market for Sexton is but I doubt Gilbert allows this to happen.

Lastly would be explore moving Markkanen for an actual wing but I doubt Bickerstaff allows this to happen.

Can't believe most people think Cavs won this trade.
LeVert is extremely overrated. Good player but definitely overrated.

Indeed. This solves a big problem for Cleveland. They've done an outstanding job rebuilding.

What did the Rockets trade Caris for again?

Gave up 2 2nds for an expiring then flipped him to Miami for cap relief and the opportunity to upgrade the Nets 22 1st to a Miami 1st(lotto pro.). If not conveyed they'll receive the lower of DEN/PHI 22 2nd. The broke and heavily in debt Tillman Fertitta valued cap relief and Rafael Stone was under strict orders to get it done.

For Indiana, you managed just for Levert alone to get a 1st+3 2nds. Good on Indiana to lay off the damn weed and get a good deal that gives them cap relief and assets for the future. They need to continue the fire sale and get the best deals they can for Sabonis and Turner. Heck flip Holiday and Craig too while your at it.

If he gets hot at the right time he can take over a game, or even a series. You can't exactly count on me doing that of course, but weren't many players available for a late 1st who can claim that.

He doesn't need to be a #1 or #2 option. He simply just needs to fill the void Cleveland has had.

Brutal.

They traded Allen for a Milwaukee FRP and Caris for Oladipo.
They should have traded Caris for the Cavs FRP and kept Allen.

By that logic isn't the Cavs FRP, which will be a late 1st, basically an early 2nd?
So it's still a 1st and a 2nd, basically

I mean you can look at it however you like. As things currently stand, it’s a 3 way tie for 22/23/24th pick + 33rd pick. Pretty damn good haul for Indiana

Seems like fair value to me.

Levert was the 20th pick in the draft and he now should be in the prime of his career in a position Cleveland needs now.

Indiana will probably get a mid-to-late 20's pick and an early-to-mid 30's pick in this coming draft. They probably have a 50/50 chance of drafting a player with those assets who in a few years will be equal or better to Levert.

This is the kind of deal that on paper benefits both teams and where they are at in their contention cycles.

To be fair to Stone, the owner has been a headache for the most part. He forced the Allen trade to get out of Prince's deal, but managed to flip the Bucks 1st with Tucker to Milwaukee and got a MIL 21 1st+23 1st in exchange for HOU's 21 2nd. Not great but what can you do. Stone has done well given the circumstances.

Caris is basically going to be a role player. Just needs to try and be a consistent 4th scorer behind Garland, Allen, and Love.

We needed his ball handling more than anything. We need his scoring 2nd.

As a Pacers fan, I am very, very happy with the trade. Our asking price was young player + 1st round pick or two 1st round picks so what we got (1 first round pick and 1 very early 2nd round pick) is really close to that initial asking price. That shows two things, imo:

1) It shows that our initial asking price wasn't unreasonable.

2) It sets up the baseline for any trades involving Sabonis/Brogdon/Turner (assuming that we trade them in this trade window or in the off-season). LeVert had less trade value than the other 3 so if we were able to get that return for him, it would pretty logical to assume that we'd want to get at least that (and possibly more) for the others.

This trade also does something else that may be insignificant to most other fans but is actually pretty significant for most Indiana fans. It shows us that our FO actually is willing to trade starters for draft picks. This seems like a given for fans of most teams but it's far from that for a Pacer teams. Pacer fans have been bombarded with the message that the Pacers do not trade starters for draft picks for as long as I've followed them (which is around a decade, I started following the NBA during the '11 lockout). Seeing us trade a starter for a draft pick is a huge deviation from what we've been used to and a sign that our FO understands the direction that it needs to go. It's actually kind of a landmark for us, as weird as that may sound.

Last but not least, I do have to say that LeVert is a pretty good player. No, he's not a star but he can create his own shot and that's important in this league. I believe that he will help the Cavs. For that reason, I voted that the trade is win-win.

I am also glad tha LeVert is going to a team with playoff aspirations. He has had a very tough couple of years and I wish him all the best :D

Not a big LeVert fan and think that price is a bit rich for him but despite him not being particularly efficient I think there’s value in adding his skillset to the Cavs, they could use it

You can thank Love/Cedi getting hot combined with a bit of stealth tanking by Carlisle freezing out Sabonis after you got the big lead.

Freezing out our bigs has been somewhat of our specialty ever since Bird fired Vogel. It definitely helps with the tank, though

He is a ball dominant player that isnt a good shooter and is a bad defender. He seems like a horrible fit alongside Garland in that starting lineup. Unless the thought is to have him being a microwave scorer 6th man. If that is the case, that is quite the hefty price tag for a 6th man.

Yeah it's weird how LeVert has somehow been so highly regarded over the years despite him being perhaps the most inefficient volume shooter in the league. I mean the guy has a career TS+ of 94 (league avg = 100) and a negative career BPM
