In this scenario the team trading for Jimmy are calling his bluff that he won't report and willing to give up assets anyway. Jimmy has made a lot of money in his career but I'm sure he won't want to see millions lost if he chooses to sit out the season.

I don't think those teams are worried about him not reporting at all, they're worried that if he doesn't want to be there he'll report and be a malcontent and play but not put any actual effort into to it like he was doing in Miami before they suspended him indefinitely.
