It’s just weird when people are so eager to give a breakdown on someone they haven’t watched at all.

It’s their right, but I don’t see why they should be protected from being called out either.

If all someone is doing is bitching about the thread, then that's really more of a "punt it to the mods and let them decide" kind of moment.

Right, but if someone says "Anthony Edwards is terrible at basketball and can't score!" the mods aren't going to do anything about that.

Not if no one says anything about them trolling Ant/Minny fans, no.

I'm not necessarily talking about just trolling, though yes, that too. Just people stating things they know nothing about.

If someone says Haliburton looks washed, when the dude has been crushing it for months now...is it not okay to call them out on not knowing what they are talking about?

Right. And we can take this to PMs to discuss it further if you like so that we don't keep derailing this thread, but generally speaking, address the content, not the poster. And if you have a problem with a thread in general, take it to the mods. Don't do their job for them; involve them, and let them do it.

giddey always finish seasons stronger than he starts it

people undersell the merit of kidd to exploit him in such a manner to become unplayable as a thunder against top teams

but he'll be okay as long as he improves as a connector and defender simultaneously with his on ball playmaking.

he'll always have physical problems in the nba (short arms, lack of a bounce) but he definitely has a sharp mind for this sport.

An absolutely MONSTER game tonight in the win against LAL @ Crypto. I think he's the closest to achieving a quadruple-double in a long time. Aside from Wemby.

- 33 minutes played
- 15 points, 10 rebounds (3 offensive), 17 assists, 8 steals, 2 turnovers
- 5/11 FG, 1/2 3PT, 4/6 FT
- +22

Sheesh, those are big numbers. I take back my mocking MVP chant.

He's a lot like a bigger, slower Jason Kidd. I know this isn't the first time I've said that about him.

Exactly what I said earlier in this thread.

A game like tonight shows you his IQ, awareness, and feel for the game can extend to the defensive end. His lack of explosiveness, defensive motor, and positional size is what's caused him to lack in that department historically speaking. But recently he's shown more effort and has graded out to a borderline neutral defender. Which is huge for him.

I'm a long way off my extreme hot take of him averaging a trip dub this season, but he did have Lavine as a teammate for half a season. I joke, but not really.

With how well he rebounds and passes, could definitely see it happening. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him a have a few 20-20-20 games in his career.

lenght the crux of giddey is his lenght, he'll always be bothered in attempts to score inside because he has trex arms.

the key for giddey to justify a max is, like you said defensive development, but also development in a connector role. always thought he should spend more time modeling himself after bird than after lebron/doncic.

there'll will always be a more explosive scoring threat that's better to have the ball other than giddey that's the nature of current fast paced nba. if he uses his iq to be active and threatening off the ball, he be an extremely positive offensive weapon.

In his postgame interview Giddey said this is the first time he’s been given the assignment of guarding next player on the other team. Said he was fired up to defend Luka.

You are right this is the first time I’ve seen his IQ translate into one on one defense. He had 8 steals and Luka had 7 turnovers and only 4 pts in the second half. Luka had 7 3s in the first half. One was on Giddey.

Giddey took over the game in the 2nd half with attacking the rim and dishing for easy buckets. He also got 6FTs.

So fun to watch his elite IQ translating. Only player in the league with higher IQ IMO is Jokic. Daniels on D.
