I can't think of a worse month for any team in sports history, aside from the team leaving town entirely. Gut wrenching. Trade Nico to the Lakers, and you might get Luka back.

It's not even just the Luka trade. They wouldn't need to be relying on an old, broken down Kyrie now if they didn't give up on a 25 year-old Jalen Brunson.

maybe if they had given him a chance sooner and not made him a bench player for so long, things could have gone differently but at the summer of his FA, his mind was already set and obviously something funky was going on with his dad NY connection (paid under the table, perhaps?)

But then the question becomes, would the relationship have deteriorated to that point under a competent FO?

I don't think Nico wanted this outcome but I also think he's probably dodged a bullet here.

No, his reasoning was that they have more chances to win now and next few years, with this injury he has lost this year and next year. It's basically over. He won't win anything with main players being old between 34-37 years, all injury prone and 1 returning after main injury. He lost the gamble and he knows it. The pressure on him will just grow, it's only question of time, when he's gone. The only thing that can save is lottery luck, odds being very low.

Well he will the offseason to get Durant.

In 2018, Kyrie said that he, Davis and Durant had a dream to play on the same team. All 3 had deals with Nike likely through Nico at that time.

Part of me thinks this has been in the world a long time and won't just stop now because of injuries this season. In fact a tanking Mavs gets them a better pick to entice Suns to trade Durant to them.

Even if he gets KD, he will have to give away half a roster to match his salary, who will play Pg? I doubt that AD and KD are even enough for playoffs.

And I doubt that KD would even want to come in Mavs knowing that Kyrie might miss more or less entire season.

The best decision Nico can make is to resign. His life in Dallas can't be normal anymore. He should just run away. His resignation would help Mavs and Mavs fans too, process of healing started.

Are you sure Mavs are making playoffs next year? With Dinwiddie and Exum on Pg? They went from best guard duo in Nba to Dinwiddie/Exum, if Exum is healthy, which he never isn't. Mavs making playoffs next year is highly unlikely.

You sure it wasn't just halftime? Mavs fans should just stop going to games since their GM is actively working against the team that employs him to help his friend out for free and clearly colluding and then making excuse after excuse and telling lie after lie after the backlash was too much, but I hear a drumline, which normally tends to happen during halftime, no? I could be wrong about it being halftime though.

No, it was after Kyrie got hurt. The way he went down everyone in the arena knew he was hurt bad. His teammates helped him to the line to shoot the free throws, while the crowd chanted MVP. When he went to the locker room about 80% of the arena cleared out.

I believe we are going to see thousands of empty seats from here on out. Adelson’s have also **** the bed on any chance they had at getting the fans to pay for a new arena.
