Just looking at the roster right now. This has to be the biggest whiff of all time, acquiring talent when having an all time great.

10 years in, Jokic has never played alongside a current All NBA player, let alone a single All Star. And not just that, but 10 years into his career, they have 50% of the cap tied up in Jamal Murray and MPJ.

Like what are we doing here? Look at the players KD has played with. Look at the players Curry has played with. Look at the players LeBron has played with. Look at the players Embiid has played with.

I want to give Jokic props for chilling with 1 team and not being a diva. But at some point I would get it if he says enough is enough. Get me legit talent or trade me.

This is truly embarrassing. Booth definitely deserved to get fired. And if Malone was hand in hand with these decisions, I can get him going (might as well let him finish out the season though). But ya just a complete waste of an all time great talent by the entire front office of this organization. I feel like Aaron Gordon really was the only move during this entire time where I thought to myself, "damn that was a perfect pickup". Outside of that, its been non stop thinking of "what exactly is Denver doing here?"

Yeah for real. I mean he got a little annoying last year like the nuggets were a new juggernaut, but 2 years after a title is already insane enough but not even giving the guy a playoff run just to see what happens is even more insane, since this presumably means you're just punting on a prime jokic playoff.

Hard time seeing they didn't consult Jokic before doing this.

nah, jokic has made statements before that it's not his place to be coaching the team. i'm sure he's aware that he knows even less about being a gm. Jokic is a teamplayer and consulting players like Lebron etc isn't about actually consulting, it's about LeGM/the team doing what's best for LeBron rather than what's best for the team

Thank God, it's been a long time coming. He was fortunate that Jokic got them the ring, or else Malone would've been gone a long time ago.
I like the dude as a person, but the basketball this team has played when Jokic is not on the floor has been a travesty for years now.
This season is obviously ruined for the Nuggets, but the future is looking much brighter now, depending on the replacements.

Maybe look at results, that speak for itself? As I said, if it was up to RealGM posters, every coach who ever coached would have been fired 100 over, the fact you take that as some kind of proof is beyond asinine. Guy won a champioship two years ago, unless Jokic just came to the owner and saying you clean house or I am gone, this firing is stupid.

We'll see when the full report comes out as it always does. He should kiss Jokic's feet on his way out.

they probably consulted Jokic before doing it. No way can i see that they didn't ask what he thought about it.

100%, assume he was consulted. He may have said, "Do whatever you want, it's not my job to choose who coaches and manages the team." Or maybe he gave his blessing. With 90% of stars, you'd assume the latter, but with Jokic's personality, the former feels just as plausible.

This isn’t changing the Nuggets fortunes long term. Next season:

Murray: $46m
MPJ: $38m
Nnaji + Saric: $12m dead money

You can’t overpay this many guys and hope to maintain any semblance of depth.

So you think nuggets up and fired someone who's coached the team for 10 years without consulting Jokic?

I dont care what Jokic said lol. Jokic wanted Westbrook they got westbrook. Lets not act as if FO's dont ask their generational superstars what they think. If they didn't it would be malpractice.

Jokic was probably like "It's your team, do whatever you want"

But 5 games before end of the year? That is absolutely ridiculous, bush league garbage. He deserved the opportunity to finish out this season.

It’s obviously meant to send a message to the players. The culture is rotten in that locker room. Not because they hate each other or anything like that, it’s just a casual, country club, old boys club vibe. And you can’t say that Malone isn’t responsible for at least some of that.

This team has been the great underachieving team of the year. They have the talent to win it all but are nowhere near title contention because they’re mentally weak.

This is literally the opposite of the truth.

Booth was the issue, not Malone.

Not that it would make this better, but curious if they wanted to get a head start on hiring Jenkins.

Malone should kiss Jokic's feet before leaving.

Jokic is the only reason Malone will get another job.

I’ve said it many times. Those 10 minutes a game when Jokic is on the bench has been a failure for years now and that’s all on Malone. Even when he had better players like Hartenstein and Bruce Brown, those minutes were highly suspect.

because they have a top 5 player in the league and has expectation of multiple championships? How many coaches has Lakers fired since getting Lebron?

Expectations are high when you have a 3 time mvp but only have 1 finals appearance to show for it.

Through Hakeems first 10 years, which included 1 title like jokic, he had 1 teammate who finished top 20 in either PER, WS48 or BPM. And it was Kenny smith, who finished exactly 20th in WS48 in 1991 (and wasn't top 30 in the others. )

The fact its FO and coaching fire, owner must have been very pissed. Not sure if the reason is justified, but I don't really even know what to say. Owners must have planned this for a long time, they must have a new guy in place now, maybe they really like the new guy and he was in their ear for a while now. It is really a shocking fire, Taylor Jenkins firing was not very shocking to me, this was tho.
