Obviously yes, I mean not every play but some. Game is called differently nowadays, Shaq can’t lower shoulder as much. Even if he bumps Wemby off which he will , he still has to elevate and dunk. Wemby has shown good recovery ability to still put his arms up / contest / block in those scenarios.

Everyone gets bullied / bumped by Shaq. It’s more about recovery time / ability to still contest afterward

That's cause he's taller and his calves are disproportionately large. He was still easily and brutally backed down by Shaq before a shot was taken. He just learned to pull the rug from under the post up or just stay in position enough to challenge the shot at its peak.

To DO a rug-pull in the FIRST place, requires the ability to apply some tangible resistance: Something that Yao's lower body allowed him to do, and Wemby's lower body would NOT...

Yeah but Wemby can certainly block shots at a higher peak. He has some lift to his game and a massive wingspan compared to Yao. Given the right coaching I think he would be about as effective as Yao slowing Shaq down. Which, even though Yao was among the best at it, it still didn't make that much of a difference to Shaq.

Prime Lakers Shaq was 330-350 Pounds and was strong as hell.

We will see how Wemby's career goes, if he can put on some muscle and stay injury free, then he might be able to slow him down. Hope he continues his pregesion as he might be in the talks of being one of the GOATs if he can keep it up

1 on 1, Wemby would probably get injured trying to guard Shaq. But any decent coach would never put Wemby on Shaq. They would probably run a double big lineup with a stockier center guarding Shaq and Wemby playing help.

You put Wemby on shaq 1v1 you fire the coach on the pregame scrimmage to protect the franchise

Vs a shaq you need Wemby as a free safety and a beefy boy to play post d v shaq to hold him for the help. A Lot like a NT holding the point of attack to creste a Gap for the linebacker to shoot
