LOL you should you got the first dig in..

It's a pretty public opinion that the Kat trade made the Knicks core softer I thought? Didn't think I was throwing shots

Kat not soft...he can bang...the public perception is that his shot isn't falling ...and that would be true. But overall yeah we could have used more toughness, and energy, so your point is taken. Good luck on Thursday.

i’d say a more accurate assessment of kat is he’s emotional. sometimes overly to the point it gets the best of him. maybe not so much soft tho

If we get another close series this year it really could be. Pistons are a team Knicks fans would love if it was ours.

And you're right - we've been talking about the team's toughness on our board all year. Alvarado changed the complexion and composure of the team already and to get another guy like that is exactly what we need. Even Hart, as gritty of a player as he is, isn't a fighter by nature. Our new guys are chippy tough.

Looks like I called it. And yes, I/we realize that this is not prime Draymond Green we're picking up. Sochan is tough, though, and wants to defend--not true of a lot of players in today's NBA. This season, whenever OG and/or Mitch sit, we have had a toughness problem (that becomes apparent especially when we play teams like Detroit...). Does Sochan completely solve this problem? No...but he'll at least scrap, foul hard, grab an offensive rebound (and/or an opponent's jersey) or two, and he comes very, very cheap.

Fingers crossed that he helps us.

Yeah pretty easy call since the Knicks were known to of went after him before the deadline, but Spurs didn't want to take on extra salary. I figured he'd either go to NYK or LAL or Miami.

With so many saying they would take him on their team, it is odd a SRP could not be traded for him.

I thought my Bulls should have absorbed him into their TPE for a 2nd-give him a 30 game tryout

It won't be a "real rivalry" until you beat us in the playoffs!

Drafting's hard when you aren't gifted a top 4 pick over and over.

The Blazers would definitely know how hard drafting is.

I suspect the will was there but the way was trickier. He had a $7 mil expiring. Matching in this environment may not have been possible. The Knicks certainly couldn't have done it without giving up a piece, or pieces, of greater value.

Supposedly they were talking Yabusele and Dadiet for Sochan but Spurs didn't want to Yabu's second year salary on next year's cap sheet

Not the biggest Sochan fan but these posts are weird. what exactly should he think about himself? this is sounds like a loser comment.

he's been nothing but a team guy and has done everything asked of him. He just didn't pan out as a prospect for the Spurs and doesn't fit around the team they have now,

How would you assess Sochan as a playmaker? The idea of him was a sort of "Dimes and Defense" athlete, and the Spurs giving him some PG reps pumped some hope into that concept. A strong, playmaking 4 next to Wemby made sense in theory, but when they went all in on athletic guards with mediocre jumpers, it felt like even the idea of Sochan didn't fit into any lineups.

If there was a team that needed a tough defender to could playmake (or be a connective passer), do you think he could fill that role? I can see the Heat, Wolves, Knicks, Nuggets, Bucks, Hornets, Clippers, and Hawks having use for a player like that, but is Sochan capable of being that player?

He is not a playmaker at all imo

Yeah playmaker is stretching it. He apparently played some 1 at Baylor and I think Pop wanted to get him to see the court/plays beyond his role with the short lived experiment.

Pop wanted him to lead the tank, nothing more, nothing less. And he succeeded at It

But it's not giving credit to development which is what rebuild seasons are for. As I've stated previously, Sochan brining up the ball and initiating the O was not unique to him, not some grand experiment. We did this with other players who had limited handles/vision and didn't give up the ball once it was in their hands and to their benefit it worked so that they can do several things better.

To presume that in an already rebuild year stripped of talent Sochan at 1 for 19 or 20 games (far fewer than other players did it for) made some grand difference is false. We would have been bad either way, as evidenced by Sochan playing his natural position ever since to low impact on winning.

You would have been bad anyway, sure, but not 4-25 to start the season kind of bad.

Sure. If you're 10 feet or 12 feet from the ledge, you're too bloody far away to not fall either way. Nothing else factored in or affected the outcome as much lol
