Congrats SGA, or maybe next in line before or after, Embiid just surrendered MVP through his delegate JustBuzz, if it is fine with his other more official delegates on this board

If people think Embiid’s heft in contributing to his injuries. Would eating burgers before games be a bad idea?

Sounds like you’re projecting your tendencies onto other people.
You really should change your handle if you want people to think that those you are referring to are more biased than you. Anyone who names themselves by mocking a player isn’t ever going to be taken seriously when discussing that player, or those seen as his rivals.

Personallly i like jokic..i also happen to like embiid as well. I think hes been unfairly slandered on this board to say the least. The id is nothing serious and just all in jest/fun. Difference is there no real animosity towards jokic like some have against embiid as evidenced by the straight vitrol spewed his way. I dont think theres anything wrong w/ defending embiid and not going along w/ the mob to bash embiid nonstop.
Calling yourself Chokic is totally fun, how can the board not see that
It also helps to calm everyone down regarding this emotional rivalry...
Change your handle and help calm down the heat in here.
Also, defending someone when they are being treated unfairly is fine. But you seem to be defending him from even the most obvious and deserved criticism. Your love for him and the bias that comes with it leads to some head-scratching defenses and silly arguments on your part. Being a fan of someone can go hand in hand with accepting some valid critical points about that player.
You only seem to do the first part.
And please, for the love of God, stop with the "I'm just trying to stop the mob" narrative.
Yes, there is a stupid, exaggerated hatred of Embiid that I don't like.
Also a lack of appreciation for what he is as a talent and how much he has worked on his game over the years.
But if you see yourself as the good guy in this MVP conversation, then I can't take you seriously.
I would also like to say that a lot of the hate (again, not a good thing) is down to you, eyeatoma and Hussein Fatal for stirring the pot every time you get the chance. Sometimes I feel like I am talking to my younger siblings, knowing that I can spare my words. It seems like you are literally deaf to what everyone else is saying. Do you know how frustrating that is?
"No sense in honoring an internet bet. This isn’t the real world get over stop crying like a baby."
"My first name is Hussien. Would you expect Saddam to honor a bet he made with Kuwait or the US?"
Hussein Fatal after losing a bet.

The problem is that the load management happens so that in a b2b for example, he plays the easy game and rests on the difficult one. Is this a team decision? I don't know, but most MVPs would not tolerate that, they would rise to the challenge and play the difficult game instead of stat pad against the weak teams.
10/11 games Embiid has missed have been road games. The numbers to the right of the team are DefRtg.

It's quite possible that Embiid actually stole one MVP from SGA, if SGA ends up being objectively the most deserving this year but the voters feel they should make up things for the last year.

Embiid was clearly leading the MVP race for me, but the missed games will push him back at this point. I'm leaning towards SGA right now, followed by Jokić, Giannis, and Dončić. It's pretty close between all of them, though. Feel like Giannis' season has been particularly underrated, guy is posting 31.0 PPG on 60% FG, which is peak Shaq level, and averaging a career high in APG.

They need another award.
The MVP is flawed, just based on the definition.
If Emibiid were to miss the rest of the year, and the Sixers free-fall, then It proves even more-so, how valuable he is.
We need a need a "Most Consistent of the Best" award, to replace the current day MVP.

Nah imo SGA should win even if Embiid was healthy if we are going by ur logic... He is leading a SUPER young team to one of the best records in the league while playing at an ELITE level... And he will have the games played...He is the definition of an MVP anyway u want to slice it...

Re: NBA MVP Discussion Thread 2023-24 (Part 3: Son of Daughter of MVP thread)
It's mind blowing how good Embiid is/has become on offense given his injuruy issues and how much time he has spent not being able to play. It truly is impressive because he has been robbed of so much time.
I hope he manages to come back and be fully healthy for the playoffs.
The Sixers (front office, doctors, coach) and Embiid himself are the ones who decide when he plays or doesn't play. Missing the Nuggets game at the last second just showed precisely that: they didn't care what the world would think. They sat him out. Fine.
They probably should have a better communication to avoid unnecessary scrutiny (like a very late scratch in an hyped game), but other than that they should decide at all times what's best for them/the player/future. The goal is to win championships. It's not to win regular season awards.
"The internet" is not to blame. Claiming otherwise reads like a parody basically.

31 on 60% is great but when u add to an already loaded team yet another top 10 offensive player...it hurts ur case
just like Warriors KD etc. it is what is and rightfully so
doesn't take anything away from Giannis greatness, he's been great consistenly for a long while now

prob is it's harder to win a ring when a.) ur never a really high seed cuz ur star sits out a quarter of a season and b.) it's also harder to build real chemistry when ur star is in and out of the lineup and ur competing against squads that use the whole season for reps and preparation. not impossible to win, but def harder

lol, the mental gymnastics itt are so impressive haha
the MVP vote has always been "most consistent of the best". the most consistent usually ends up winning more and gets rewarded when his team excells with him as the main bus driver
it's funny how everything needs to change to specifically cater Embiid.
awards should be tailor made to his part time career, high cities shouldn't have NBA teams etc. none of that seemed important in the past haha

Re: NBA MVP Discussion Thread 2023-24 (Part 3: Son of Daughter of MVP thread)
The way some Embiid fans and media trying to blame his injury on public pressure is pathetic. It was not because his existing condition was aggravated because of playing. He fell down on the ground too much as usual and Kuminga fell on his leg, which could have happen on any given night playing with or without injury.

He's of no value to Philly when he's not playing. People who judge MVP by how a team does without the player are looking at the award from the wrong side.

Quite understandably certain posters here are working there way through the 7 stages of grieving. Whether you're a really invested fan of a player or a team then when the rug gets pulled out from under you via an injury or unexpected loss this can happen. Most of us here have either been through this or should realise it could happen to any of us at some point. Bucks fans all went through this when we lost Giannis vs the Hawks to that knee injury in the ECF thinking it was all over.
Suggest just leaving their posts alone until a) we hear good news that it wasn't that bad an injury and Embiid will be back in 1-2 games or b) acceptance is reached.

He wasn't the true mvp, neither this nor last nor any season. Nobody came close to stuffing bottom feeders on his level, that I can agree with you.
Hes been the most dominant player in the league for past 3-4 seasons. He's also very injury prone and ppl confuse that with him choking in the playoffs. A fully healthy embiid is the best player in the league. Him owning jokic in the head to head is further proof of that.
Change the 3-4 seasons to last 0.5-1 seasons.
Change the seasons to regular season.
You may then have a small argument
