Gallo being this washed is sad to see, respect though for insisting on playing for his country.

Luka with 30pts in 16 mins and +16.

Italy 40 pts

But playing both sides could gas him out, the rest of Slovenian team has to step up.

France stopped being serious contender once their final roster was announced.

They were third in odds and some NBA players didn't even make their roster.

But it is true that this team might not be good. Are guys like Risacher and Coulibaly good? I know they play in the NBA, but that does not really make them good right now, they are young, they also players who were just role players on mid Euro teams year or two ago. Talented sure, but are they already good? We know guys like Francisco, Shengelia or Yabu are good, they are seasoned and proven, but this France has a lot of guys who are just starting to figure out stuff and it showed a bit. This is still an old mans game quite a bit.

Mamu is a big wing. Teams should take a chance on him.

He will get a chance in the Raptors this season.

Yes I want to penalize. No matter the size of the country and its population, have enough self respect not to fall for the random american mercenary stuff. I have big respect for all the countries who go to war with their own, without adding any random mercs, win or lose. Slovenia with Randolph and Spain with Lorenzo Brown, there is no respect from me, these titles carry a big asterisk.

Americans themselves added a mercenary Cameroonian because of their lack depth at C, does the Paris gold have asterisk also?

Yes of course, that was very unnecessary and such a weak move by the US basketball federation. I mean it's the United States, they shouldn't need to rely on foreign mercenaries.

Joel Embiid went to college in the USA and played 10 years professionally in the USA. We built his game and his life of basketball. But he is just a foreign mercenary? Was Olajawon also a mercenary?

Any time he got playing time, he looked good, I am not sure why exactly Spurs had such as small role for him, is he really worse than Sochan?

Embiid lived in USA more than Adam Bona did in Turkey probably at this point. I still think it is a shame that he never played for his real country, and that USA naturalized him, but he is not random mercenary. Still not a fan, but this is not Anthony Randolph, Jordan Loyd, Lorenzo Brown situation.

Tbh i had higher hopes for Bilal Coulibaly after ignoring Wizards exist during his rookie year, than actually watching him play during his second year. Eurobasket just kind a poves it that he has loooooong ways to go to become more than just 6'8 guy with mediocre jumpshot off catch and nothing else. When his shot is off, he is good for nothing.

Risacher understands game but imo game still is too fast for him.

Switch two of them with younger versions of DeColo, Heurtel or healthy Fournier and that team would look 100% different and not go home against Georgia.

tbh that was my first tought when i saw Bogdan out for Serbia. Jokić is just flat out amazing player, but tournament in such format requires ball handler on perimeter to manipulate defense and break lines. And who was going to do that for Serbia if not Bogdan? Gudurić who thinks he is way better than he is or Micić, who aged 20 years over past two.... In same fashion France just lacks that extra talent at guard position they used to have.

That's why Germany is so damn good, because Schroder under FIBA rules is cheat mode. Turkey has Larkin.

He's the "reverse" Sochan.

Sochan can't shoot but on paper he can guard 1-4,Mamu can most definitely shoot but he was really bad defensively (slow on the perimeter, targeted in the paint)

(Not that Sochan has really developed after his rookie year or anything)

Niang stole the ball cleanly from Luka.. he juxt flopped and got rewarded.

Niang locked him up. Luka gets dubious calls.

I said when Sochan got injured, that it is really a shame, because I really wanted to see him in Eurobasket, since I cant really grasp how good he is if hes good at all. Personally I am Sochan skeptic, but I have been wrong many times.

Shoulder to the face says otherwise. Niang was out of position.

Watching Slovenian players in the 4th Q was like watching Dumb&Dumber movie. Italy trapped and doubled Luka and the rest just folded.

Italy execution down the strech was quite horrible.
