Shai's game just knows how to bait fouls. How he managed to translate it over to FIBA is beyond me.

There's absolutely nothing France can do vs this Canadian squad. Completely shut down this half.

I knew Canada was better than those friendlies made us look, we were playing our starters reduced minutes and clearly were taking it easy. Now that they are putting in the effort, the D looks incredible

He doesn't use physicality to get to his spots and has a plethora of moves and finishes he can use starting from the mid range area. It's very annoying to try to guard a player like that cause every little hesi, every slight look at the basket could mean that a floater or a left handed short range bank shot or a fadeaway etc. is coming.

As a defender it's very tough to anticipate what's going to happen next. A lot of players react by doing uncharacteristic, like hacking more, reaching more, going for those fakes etc. cause they can't defend on auto pilot.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Canada getting every offensive rebound is hilarious considering their frontcourt is their weakness lol.

Shai's game isn't really foul baiting, if you watch him closely it's more or less that he's a master at using the defender's body to play off of. He gets the defender going one way, he engages with them physically then spins off their contact or bumps them and decelerates for a floater/jumper, if you keep up he hits you with a counter that's off pace.

It's a pity teams can't send their best for the World Cup. It's pretty much the best at a given time depending on which players stay committed or are even able to compete. It's not the best strength vs. the best strength as Olympics tends to be.

These games do count towards Olympic qualifying, if memory serves, so teams do have to make do with not their best at times to even reach the next level.

Very solid Canada win versus a team that has its own pressures to reach high levels. Bit of a reality check for France but again it's too bad both teams aren't fielding their best rosters.
