I dont think hes THAT stupd, and that is besides the point i talked about. I was pointing out the typical coward thing of "omg i had no idea" while probably pulling to get AD traded all the time.

Wow - I have hated MY team before but I could never wear another teams colors- like the wiz piss me off but that’s my team - I could never be a lakers fan - I love Jokic, have a house in Denver, but could never be a nuggets fan - I just appreciate good ball so I love Jokic and Giannis - but never gonna be a bucks or nuggets fan… Mavs fans tripping becoming Lakers fans lol

I'd absolutely stop being a Mavs fan if I lived in Dallas. I'd probably pick up one of the other two Texas teams, or just casually watch the NBA from this point onward.

That bball state is so lucky. They can jump to the Spurs.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Yall are a new type of fan.:. I can hate MY team- hate MY teams ownership- but I couldn’t adopt another team… maybe that’s just me- like I hated the redskins but no way in hell could I become a raven or a cowboys or KC fan… I was estranged with my team- but when the owner sold them team and they made a run, I came back to my team having never cheered for another team…. This...
Idiot couldnt even get Reaves in this deal. 28 other GMs, if preassured by owner would get Davis, Reaves, Knecht and all the picks and swaps or they would quit their job.
This was professional malpractice and gift to a friend and people shouldnt try to find basketball sense in this move.

Honestly I doubt it, there are only a few players in the league better than AD and nobody would've thought any of them could be acquired via trade.

Yeah I couldn't do it either. You get 30-plus years invested in a team, and there's just no way for me to turn that allegiance off in favor of another team from scratch. My interest levels definitely wax and wane depending on how good they are in any given year. I'm older now and I'm not as obsessive as I used to be. But to just flat-out change teams and have the same level of investment ... I don't see how that's possible.

No sports fandom has ever endured what Mavs fans just went through. The owners have created a situation of total hopelessness around the team.

If you asked Mavs fans, what is absolute horror scenario for this season they would probably say "Luka tearing both achillies, both ACL and both MCL"...

This feels a lot worse then that...that says you enough about how smart their **** GM is

Personally I will not be a Mavericks fan again until Nico & the owners are gone. I'll be standing by. But I won't be rooting for them. My visceral reaction to the trade was that I might support a different team but the longer that has gone on the more I know that's not possible. I will root for Luka though because he got screwed over just as badly as we all did.

Theres no doubt about AD's talent - which is why i made a thread only two weeks ago wondering why he doesnt ask for a trade - but his health is a real issue. I think Lakers and LeBron grew tired of him getting injured again and again and pushed to get rid of him and replace him. Basically its the fourth superteam, probably the most talent he ever had.

It was leaked to MacMahon and then reported that the Mavs were terrified to give Luka the supermax, they are now in talks to extend AD which will bring him very close to what Luka on supermax would be.
There is no rationale in being afraid to max a 25 y/o who doesn't rely on athleticism and give the same contract to 32 y/o who heavily relies on athleticism and has well documented injury history.
They aren't that stupid, most "explanations" given after don't make any sense and they can't be stupid enough to believe them, I hope that few years from now someone reveals what went on here.

If the owners are about to give AD near the same contract...

then I still stand by my theory.

Could Nico Harrison be banned from the NBA for malpratice/ethical misconduct/collusion? The NBA needs to investigate this to enforce ethical standards among the executives

Never seen Luka nervous before a game. He admitted it postgame too. He's already feeling the difference in spotlight. The Dallas crowd has always been awesome, but the overall reach is so much more global now.

2. How can the owners of this team green light this? I’m sorry if I was the owner of Dallas and my GM comes up to me and says all of this is going on. I’m firing him on the spot. The fact the ownership was giving thumbs up for this entire time. Good luck going forward with that ownership group.

Dallas fans only hope for the long-term health of the franchise is that:
1. this was a catasthrophically naive ownership who trusted a holdover GM from the previous regime; &
2. had a policy of total delegation to the GM;
3. GM is an insane egomaniac who did the trade on his own;
4. Ownership recognizes quickly Nico is a fool, fires him in the offseason and hires a new basketball person to run the team.

If they do that they are still screwed short-term but at least they have a shot of a decent team long-term.

If the owner drove this process or had any meaningful role in this trade the franchise is doomed. You can fix a bad GM. You can't fix a bad owner.

He hesitated on few shots, he was visibly nervous, he's also very rusty.

Definitely a different stage. There is no greater stage in the NBA than playing in LA. All of the media spotlight, the number of higher profile people in attendance and the history behind the Lakers franchise just puts it on a different level. He will get used to it - as a Laker you're almost expected to put on a show every night as you're competing with other acts of entertainment in the mecca of entertainment and nightlife.
