Probably had his confidence shook by his former team ownership stating that he isn't worth keeping regardless of his skill, age and loyalty.

Dirk really last one with decency in that whole Dallas organization.
He really went to LA to see Luka play. Loving it

They are kicking fans out left and right during the game vs the Kings. And look at all the empty seats, and you compare this to the scenes in LA, and to think where the team and the fan base were just months ago between these two franchise, this really is upsetting to see.

I'm not ussually into conspiracy theories but no one can be this incompetent unadvertedly.
They ejther want to relocate or are trying to force Cuban to sell his remaining stake.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Michael Heisley allegedly did something like that with the Grizz in the mid 00s

My head canon is that Luka hit on Sivan Oshshorn, Ime Udoka's style

Edit: edited to make the post less convoluted

I'd absolutely stop being a Mavs fan if I lived in Dallas. I'd probably pick up one of the other two Texas teams, or just casually watch the NBA from this point onward.

Yall are a new type of fan.:. I can hate MY team- hate MY teams ownership- but I couldn’t adopt another team… maybe that’s just me- like I hated the redskins but no way in hell could I become a raven or a cowboys or KC fan… I was estranged with my team- but when the owner sold them team and they made a run, I came back to my team having never cheered for another team…. Yall do you - it’s an interesting type of fandom

No sports fandom has ever endured what Mavs fans just went through. The owners have created a situation of total hopelessness around the team.

You must be either young, or you don't know sports history. Teams have picked up and moved to another state, leaving their fans with nothing. Now tell me which one is worse!

I've been watching the Lakers for over 20 years. I've NEVER seen a game with so many open, easy shots like last night. Not hyperbole.

I know it was the Jazz, but still.

Their defense will suffer and their rebounding will be inconsistent, but their offense is insanely fluid. LeBron, Reaves, and Luka are going to dissect almost every defense at will.

Actually, the NBA, as well as MLB, NFL, and the NHL are billionaire hobbies. Owning a professional sports team is a billionaire hobby, not a business. So any criticism of how these leagues operate can't be based on comparing them to an actual business. The professional sports "business" model is upside down. In no other business does an employee make more money than their bosses. I know the players aren't just employees, they're also products, but it's still an upside down business model.

The exception to the billionaire hobby rule is the Green Bay Packers. The city owns that team, or something like that.

Sports leagues are a business. Owners expect their investments to increase in value over time.

Why? Nico is not going to games or press conferences anymore.

I don't think 'Fire Nico' is a death threat, so no justification to throw that guy out. Thrash organization from ownership to security people.

Yeah, Luka is Magic-esque with those passes.

Rui needs to keep his hands up and ready for open jumpers.

Luka's inside scoring is so smooth too!

This move regardless of how people thought what went down is probably even past the Bade Ruth trade.

The fans wouldn't trust the team, I don't think the players would either.

Regardless if this was done by collusion, massive incompetence or whatever the GM of the Mavs should be black balled out of the league imo.

Why would anyone, fan or player, trust the FO ever again?

Even the more incompetent FOs would not trade Luka, the only thing that I could think of to salvage the Mavs FO in any way is if Luka demanded out in private and was causing a scene, but i have no way to confirm or deny anything. And even if that was the case, why would you give in, knowing your reputation is on the line?

Actually the whole thing is a tax write off, making money and increases in team values are the bonuses they make sure to take.
