Re: Wembanyama. I'm concerned
Players of Wemby’s caliber come with the same issue every time — after their rookie season, unless they get hurt, it’s near impossible to tank with them on the roster. Further, because their HoF talent and trajectory is so obvious, you don’t want to anger them by not trying to win very soon. The Spurs are a very good org, obviously, but they aren’t immune to these issues. I think they’ll look to improve via trade before next year.

vs PTB
30 minutes
30 points
72TS%
7 rebounds
3 assists
10 blocks
Wembanyama. I'm concerned.
That 10 years from now we won't have any legit GOAT discussions as Wemby will clear them all.

SAS already did the heavy lifting though, and got Vic at the end of their rebuild. They have one of the better pic situations in the league, essentially having multiple FRP in every draft up till 2031...Some of them are actually solid like ATLs pick, the SAC pic swap, and the DAL pick. This team has the luxury of stacking their roster with young talent each and every year of Viks prime, or they can use their assets to make trades and bring in players.
SAS also already has a decent young core, so they don't need much. Vik/Sochan/Vassell/Castle is a solid group of guys to start with, and all look to be high impact 2 way players. Wemby is obviously the only sure star in that group, but it's still solid, and potentially they will add another impact prospect with their picks this year.
We're already hearing rumors about them potentially being in play for Fox, which would be huge for them, and is the type of move they will probably end up making. Next Brunson or Big Al move in the NBA is def. going to happen in one of the up and comming Texas teams.
Spurs are going to be fine, and already have the foundation and assets needed to sustain Viks entire career.

Spurs over-under for wins this year was 36, which many felt was too high. Almost everyone had them pegged as one of the worst teams in the West, and they are 15-13. They haven't even been that healthy.

Id slow it down with this line of thinking, I think a bad losing streak is upcoming and the record is gonna take a big hit. It feels like they have played 75% of their games at home this year.

Wemby, Vassell and Sochan have also missed 33 games between them so far. That's alot of games for 3 starters to miss, 27 games into the season

Someone drops 10 blocks and the general reaction is something like 'oh, cool'. That's the area he has reached already. I am going to be honest, if at some point he does not drop the first quintuple double I am going to be disappointed. Just needs to get lucky with a 2OT game or something.

Re: Wembanyama. I'm concerned
After Blazers game:
4th in BPM (+7.5)
3rd in EPM (+5.8)
+14.6 on/off
-13.8 DFG% at rim
34.9 3PT%
87.5 FT%
25-10-4-4 on 60.6TS%
+100 FTs and +200 3PTs sample size, these shooting numbers are GOAT-projection for a 20yo/21yo big man. He may realistically flirt with 50-40-90 splits while being a dominant defender. Not saying he'll get to the 40%/90% from 3s/FT, but near territories are his projection if these splits are sustainable.

Re: Wembanyama. I'm concerned
Lucky for the Spurs I’m not their GM because man I’d be tempted to make some bold trades now, with Wemby this good this early.
You could give up Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins for Ingram, and Devin Vassell and Tre Jones for Fox - and they have plenty of picks to throw in too.
Wemby
Sochan
Ingram
Paul
Fox
Castle
Barnes
Does that 7 man rotation stack up with the other top contenders in the west?

I dunno man, they've barely played any of the trash east teams yet. I think if anything now that they're finally healthy and they have some EC teams coming up they might pad that record a little bit

They’ve also only played 2 eastern teams all season which is insane so that should balance out the road games. Finally healthy, let’s see

Yeah, same. In Cade thread I said that when looking up Pistons box scores, I always look at TO graph first when checking Cade's stats. When I check SPurs box scores in the morning and come by Victors line, I always look at steals and blocks first, because I always anticipate him having 5x5 game.

He's wild, man. He's working on his second season of 10%+ BLK.
In his rookie year, he became the only player to rock 10% BLK over 50+ GP and 29+ mpg. Mourning did it over 20 mpg in 2006. Mutombo never did it (closest was 8.8%). Big Ben never did it, etc.
If you look at estimates for Wilt and Bill Russell, maybe Nate Thurmond, I'm sure some of those guys were in that range. But as far as recorded stats, that's a first, and it was Wemby. And he's in the middle of doing it again this year with a higher MPG average.
So that's actually pretty stunning.
