Why do people keep trying to make this about Carmelo vs Lin as a player? This literally has nothing to do with either player's ability. Just a dick move by the Rockets and completely classless to do one of your own. It doesn't matter if Lin is the best or worst players in the league. He is one of your guys. You can recruit Carmelo without doing some cheesy photoshop. Heck you can make your cheesy photoshops without including a current player's number.

But seriously Houston, if he came he'd wear #15, how not obvious is that?

I don't understand how people could possibly interpret that quote as offensive in any way at all.

Lin is under an incredible amount of pressure from his fanbase to not appear as though he is "accepting" disrespect. He walks an incredibly fine line. He's trying to be loyal to the organization, loyal to his beliefs (religion), loyal to his fanbase, and loyal to himself.

I don't envy him in that regard. He has a huge amount of pressure put on him.

Without any of the success. I don't even know how but I've somehow come to dislike the Rockets more than the Heat, which I didn't think was possible after 2010.

Morey has always treated HOU players like that. He is a stats geek and see players like numbers, not like men.

It's not really a surprise.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Houston pre-informed Jeremy Lin of the use of his No. 7 on 'Melo recruiting images, source tells Yahoo Sports.

If that were the case, he wouldn't be so eager to appeal to Melo's ego by showing him what he'd look like in Jeremy Lin's uniform

Morey is just an a**hole. It has nothing to do with being a stats geek.

This (the topic of this thread) is the type of thing that has me down on the organization. And this is not an outlier, IMO.

It's sad. Things don't have to be done this way. But they are done this way. And that is why people become alienated, IMO.

The Knicks were the same, or worse, as were their fan base. I stopped being a fan of them after how they treated Lin and I had been a diehard Knicks fan for over 40 years. Lin has been the recipient of clear racism from teammates and fan bases in both NY and Houston and it is only able to continue because he's Asian. I'm a white guy and it's plain as day to me. I'm not even a huge fan of LIn as a person but I always go for the underdog and I can't stand seeing people get bullied. I hope that he finds a team where he can truly show his talents and isn't marginalized the way he has been at his last two stops.

Where was the outcry last year when they put Dwight Howard in a number 12 uniform? Number 12 belonged to Patrick Beverley at that time. It was a complete non issue.

Why does it clear anything up? If I tell you I'm going to piss in your cheerios before doing it does that somehow make it okay?

I understand exactly where you're coming from. It's been truly sad to watch, IMO, and I can only imagine going through it if you were Lin or Lin's Asian fans (I'm half-Mexican, half-Euro).

The Lakers did that campaign for Dwight called "Stay." I feel like if the Rockets did a campaign for Lin, it would be "Leave."

The "jilting" you felt from the Knicks seems remarkably similar to how I feel about the Rockets. There are other reasons I feel distant from the organization right now, but what has gone on with Lin has been a substantial factor in my alienated feelings towards the Rockets at this time.

I mean, you don't have to keep the guy. But do you have to just throw him in the dirt at every turn? It's really ridiculous and almost seems to have a kind of malicious edge to it. Sad.
