Stats say differently.

Wall has had better teammates and ones who can move without the ball and shoot after the catch. Irving hasn't.

Garbage. Wall has always averaged near 9ast per even while playing with a crap Wizard team when he first came into the league. Rondo came back and averaged near 10ast playing with a D-League squad!

Kyrie Irvng, before this past year, had 2 years of near 40% 3pt shooting at near 5 attempts per game. 1 season under a dysfunctional coach doesnt make Wall, a cerrer 31% 3pter, a better shooter than him.

Cmon bruh, this isn't even a question. When you see players Rondoing Wall while closing out hard on Kyrie, it's not hard to tell who's the better shooter.

His FG% and 3pt% has also gone down each year. And no, for as much as you Kyrie fans want to cover your ears and go la la la la, last year won't be thrown out just like Wall's years playing with the like of Blatche, Mcgee and Swaggy P.

Not a Kyrie fan, just pointing out the fact that Kyrie is an elite 3 point shooter while Wall is mediocre at best.

I would agree with you if not for one thing: Wall was putting up assists numbers when he played with crappy teammates as well.

Well then Wall's assists numbers should've increased last year. Don't know why they didn't. Irving is a great passer and by playing with Lebron and Love next year, he could average close to 9 assists a game.

Not garbage. I can't speak for why Wall maintained the same assists averages when playing with superior teammates but Irving has shown (albeit in the All Star Game) the ability to be a great passer when surrounded by good teammates (and those All Star teammates include some of the possible players on Team USA).

Also led the league in total assists I believe.

Increased by what? 0.2 from his previous high? I just don't buy that Wall is a vastly superior passer to Irving.

Yeah seems pretty obvious. Nike will want Kyrie playing so they can start marketing him as the second star for Lebron. And Coach K will want Kyrie because he already liked him enough to get him to duke.

Wall would have to absolutely blow away Kyrie to get in.

It's probably good for the Wizards though, because they don't want Wall getting hurt again.

Are you seriously trying to use a one game sample size in which the game is an exhibition game where players play no defense as a basis for your argument? As well as ignore the 82 games of competitive basketball? It's fine you think Kyrie is a better passer but at least use a legitimate argument like how he is his teams best scorer and is making the best basketball play shooting instead of passing rather than trying to use the all star game to make an argument. That's like saying Jamaal Magloire was the best scorer on the 2004 Allstar team but didn't usually have the supporting cast to take the pressure off of him
Jarret Jack: “I brought one of my best suits. But looking down at this jersey, it’s just a sense of pride I don’t think I’ve ever felt as a professional. … Nothing in my closet is better than what I have on now."

You do know that Wall led the league in corner assisted 3's last year right? Kyrie wasn't even close in this category.

Percentage of field goals assisted throughout the years.

Irving Year 1: 36.5%
Irving Year 2: 32.7%
Irving Year 3: 31.6%

Wall Year 1: 36%
Wall Year 2: 36.9%
Wall Year 3: 43.9%
Wall Year 4: 40.5%

Kyrie has only averaged 2.1 more FGA throughout their careers as well.

It's incredibly easy to see why John has superior vision off of surface stats alone.

And please don't retort with "Kyrie has poor teammates". The window for team FG% varies by mostly 5% from the rank 1 and rank 30 from year to year in the NBA.

You can point to missed assist opportunities all you want, but every lead ball-handler in the NBA deals with the same thing.

LOL the allstar game.

Ok dude. Let's play. You show me Irving's 14ast playing with established NBA allstars and I'll raise you Wall's 22 asts playing with Rookies!

GTFO with that mess.

Wall is a better passer by every metric and the eye test. No idea how anyone could deny, except that some Cleveland fans get salty at every perceived "slight" to their players. Fact is, Wall is turning into one of the best young pure points in the league and that is not to diss Irving. Irving has his advantages too, being better at creating his own shot (assisted on fewer of his field goals for both 2pt and 3 pt) and a more efficient scorer in general (Wall is a better finisher, but besides that).

Also, LeBron being on that Cleveland team is going to take the ball out of Irvings hands, because often LeBron plays as the point guard. This will likely mean fewer assists for Irving, and lets just say, Irving would be better off-ball in that situation than Wall would be.

John Wall since they want a true PG. Uncle Drew's iso game ain't suited against the zone.

To be fair, Irving's team is about to start resembling the All-Star team.

To be fair, its LBJ's team, again. Irving will get to play the role he should have been playing the whole time, 2nd/3rd option on a contender, which is perfectly fine.

I'm sure he'll somehow learn how to live with that while he's playing in the Finals.

I hope its Wall. I don't want to risk Kyrie getting injured in some game that doesn't really matter and for a team that really doesn't need him.
