Speights was just running around aimlessly on defense there, lucky for him Favors missed

They can fight through the screen all they want, but they can't grab at and foul the ball handler in doing so.

You're taught to get your arms past the screener as you fight through to help with balance. The players realize this so aim their run to coincide with that and launch themselves into the defender drawing the foul. The whole situation is horrible, and the NBA needs to look at it.

This.

There are tricks when getting over the screen, a lot of guys will reach a little bit, but if the ball handler does a great job of rubbing with his screener and you try and stick your hand in to get through the screen which is what you are supposed to do, you will end up fouling. You need to beat the ball handler there, though of course if you jump the screen they can end up going away and losing you, so you just have to be careful

His inconsistency is the one thing he's consistent at. It's frustrating.

Jazz need to just settle down and take some calming breaths. They look like they are playing a little nervous and tight.

Yup. If you ever practice or watch guys practice on how to fight over screens, you see them stick their arms past the screener. Im fine with them calling a foul on it, but the shooting foul is dumb. Honestly I think if they just do a little tweak like what they did with the swiping motion so thats not supposed to be a shooting foul anymore. Do something similar with this situation. Just dont give the player the foul shots.

General league wide observation, Dunk Teams are the worst.

Like, after a made dunk, the 5 guys in the team are twice as hyped as the other 20,000 people in the building combined.

Yup if that jumper was consistent he would be a damn good player. But that thing is just so hit and miss.

Maybe the fix is for the NBA to tell the players NOT to lead with their arms. If they do, they run the risk of being whistled. If they don't lead with the arms and the attacker tries this BS foul chuck heave poop, then there should be no call, or even run the risk of an O foul by initiating the contact.

What happened to Favors? I know he had an injury but he is looking horrible out there. Getting owned by Mo Speights.

I see Felton's seafood diet is going well. He sees food, he eats it.

Mo Speights playing well would bother me if I was an opposing team. Just off principle.

This is from 6 years ago:.

.

Also, on drives to the basket, a shooting foul will be called only if contact occurs after the offensive player has begun his shooting motion, not after he has initiated his leap toward the basket.

"Certain types of contact involving the shooter were all being called in his favor," Jackson said. "It doesn't look good for the game. There was a strong feeling that those types of plays were creating an ill-advised reward for the shooter, often with three free throws."

Have no clue what the fix should be, but from experience, leading with your arms does help a lot to basically "slip" through screens, but in a sense that is a chess game. The offensive player sees your defensive tendencies and then does that move to prevent you from doing that which makes it harder for the defender to get over the screen. Now the defender has to decide whether to lead with the arm and possibly get baited into a foul or be a step behind fighting over the screen.

I don't know if we should necessarily take away everything we don't like which the players have found ways to exploit defenders.

Game is still tied but the Clips' defense intensity doesn't look like they want the game at all.

CP3 is also really good at getting around screens with footwork

pretty sure he has mastered the PnR on both ends of the floor
