How is Lowry getting votes? Dude is a popular punching bag, is built like a fire hydrant, derives a huge chunk of his value from his D (not as flashy as scoring guards) and plays a cerebral but ugly game

If you watch him regularly you can appreciate his actual impact (his advanced stats are always very strong), but he's so unsexy.

Yeah this is Simmons, he has been billed as the next big thing and a future superstar, and the reality is, he is a fraud and built for RS, in playoffs he is a liability.

It's interesting to see a 76ers fan say this. Simmons wouldn't be my first choice in this category, but I guess maybe I don't watch him play enough. Glaring hole in his game with the painful lack of ability to shoot seems to be the real issue with him. Outside of that he looks like a walking triple-double to me. Trouble is... he's still a wing player who can't shoot. I guess that's the liability. Seems like a bit of a conundrum of a player. I'd imagine over the long run he'll net you more wins than losses, but when it matters the most his weaknesses will be exposed and probably cost you important wins.

I don't know how this poll didn't include AD. For this single season I don't think there could have been a more overrated player. All-Star, probably gets voted all NBA, receives all the accolades, yet his largest achievement of the year was publicly ****!ng on his team/teammates.

Westbrook by miles. Hasn't found his shot except for a little bit in 2019 but otherwise just nope. He's regressing or at least he isn't refining or stabliizing his level of play.

EDIT: I will elaborate. He's been thought of as being better than CP3, Dame, Kyrie these recent seasons with CP3 taking a role behind Harden and Dame playing a bad series in the 2018 playoffs, and Kyrie being injured while the Celtics went to the ECF. I’ve said this in another Westbrook thread but he’s a good player in a vacuum. He’s athletic, sometimes as the ability to shoot, can attack the rim, has great vision sometimes, great passing skills, can move his feet on defense. But the important thing is he never manages to put these to the best possible use.

His lack of an outside shot is being heavily exposed because he used to be able to keep defenses somewhat honest but now he’s just helpless if his shot isn’t falling.

I will concede the OKC team is constructed very poorly in the grand scheme of things but Westbrook has to be held accountable for his own shortcomings.

Yea. Lowry is underrated, if anything.
Those who claim that Lowry is overrated are a decent proxy for people who don't have any idea how basketball actually works.

DD led a weaker cast to the playoffs than Lebron, and they just beat Den. Hard to call him overrated. Who would have thought Sa would be 1-0, Toronto would be 0-1, and Lebron would be on set begging players to join him for Space Jam 2.

Lakers with LeBron sitting out: 9-18

Spurs with Derozan playing: 44-33
Spurs with Derozan sitting out: 4-1

Lakers with LeBron on floor: +2.3
Lakers with LeBron on bench: -5.8

Spurs with Derozan on floor: +0.5

GTFO of here with this “better supporting cast” ****. Spurs would have won 50 games without Demar. This Lakers team (not the one with Randle, Lopez, and a healthy Ball from last year) wouldn’t have even won 30 without LeBron.

44-33 > 28-27

Lebron could have played 82 games and the Lakers still wouldn't have made the playoffs. And LA won 35 games last season, so yeah...we know they could win 35-37 without Lebron.

I'm the biggest DD fan but I can't agree with any of that. Comparing season to season is a very poor way to judge things because there's so many other confounding variables than just the one you're comparing. However, the on the floor/off the floor stats have a lot less confounding variables and is a much better indication. I don't think DD is overrated, but no question LeBron is vastly underrated around here. If Zion comes out and has the "bad" season LeBron just had everyone would literally be debating him becoming the best ever.
