I love the way Jokic is playing, but 8-7 isnt doing it. I got Embiid right now

undisputed best player on a #1 seed team in the conference, never won MVP before so no voter fatigue, has to be the favorite to win. Stats, record, best player and narrative all fit.

You know that the Nuggets are just one win away from 4th seed and four wins away from 1st seed, right? It's the beginning of the season. You're acting like the Nuggets are 4-10 or something
Their record still sucks lol.. It's the beginning of the season but that still matters, and 4 games is a big swing this early on
You know that Embiid already missed almost 20% of 76ers games. Right now he is on path of playing 67 games in 82 games season. Is it enough or it is still early in the season to make predictions like this?

Wow! Top 3 are from the Balkans, what a strange time in the NBA.BelgradeNugget wrote:The Nuggets are 7-3 in the last 10 games, only Lakers, Clippers and Jazz are better with 8-2. The Bucks are 7-3 also. They are coming and Jokic is climbing the ladder.

Can't argue with Embiid for MVP so far in the season.

The seeding doesent really matter anymore. What matters is putting together a monster year statwise, getting a higher seed, and being the clear cut best player on the team, where you are lightyears above your teammates, truly meaning the team is trash without you.
Its true the media may give LeBron a lifetime achievement MVP, but there are going to be so many other more deserving players with far better stats this year.
Just look at Luka, hes averaging a triple double and the second best player on the team has barely played, hes basically a one-man show.
Very wrong
Every mvp is a top 2 seed in his conference
Russ was an exception b/c he averaged a triple double 5 years ago for the first time since Oscar and people didn't realize/care how much he was stat padding and how the pace was inflated
If Jokic or Embiid aren't top 2 seeds in their conferences, they won't win it
I don't think Utah will get there. Lakers and Clipper should lock up top 2, Jazz an outside shot
Philly likely will, playing like the best team in the East
Injury always worries with my Embiid though, but I wonder if I should hedge my Lebron bet and go with Embiid
Westbrook was the 4 seed when he won MVP. And again, LeBrons stats simply wont be good enough, even if they get the #1 seed.
Did you read 1 thing I said honestly?

Yes, but it wont matter because like I said, LeBrons stats wont be good enough for the award at the end of the season, even if they get the #1 seed.

The competition obv matters tho. Even with his lowered stats, i dont have anyone but Embiid in front of Lebron right now. Narrative and record are important things in the MVP race, and Jokic/Luka arent apart of the convo with a barely above .500 record

Word. Lebron's stats might not be as impressive but that's traditionally been secondary to winning record and narrative. Every year we have this debate about individual value and nearly every year the voters go the winning record route

Ill say it again, if LeBron does not have a monster season, he isnt winning MVP. Even if the Lakers have the #1 overall seed in the NBA. He has AD on his team and that automatically cancels out all MVP considerations unless he has a monster year, which it looks like he isnt going to have so far.
Embiid, Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Curry will all get chosen above him as long as their teams records are in the top 4 of their conference.

Don't think Lebron will win MVP but it's not really about stats or any of the stuff you mentioned. I expect Dallas or Denver to go on a surge and close the gap in their records and strengthen Luka's and Jokic's case. However some of the actual voters have had Lebron top of their mvp rankings in past weeks (See Smith Sekou's rankings). He has a huge narrative bias in his favour and a top record

Jokic with MVP performance vs. the Suns. 29-22-6 in a W. And those arent empty numbers racked up in garbage time, this was double overtime with him in the go to seat.

So Jokic leads the league in basically every important advanced metric and we can’t talk about him because the Lakers have a paltry 3.5 lead in the win column. Lol. You’re fooling yourself if you think Jokic isn’t in the conversation. Or lets just give the Lakers Murray and give the Nuggets AD and you’ll learn a thing or two about superstar help.

And I think Giannis is really a center too when it comes down to it. Durant probably should be the center for the Nets. The big man is definitely back.
I agree about Giannis (he is a center at heart) but Durant is too light to play big minutes at center. He is different than Giannis and even AD. I watched almost his whole career. It's a waste playing him at the 5. He is at his best playing the 3 and 4 occasionally. He can play some minutes at the 5 obviously but playing him a whole game at the 5 is wasting him. He would get really tired I think.
Glad for big men tho. Allen is also a great young center. Massive loss for the Nets and big win for the Cavs.

Re: NBA MVP Discussion 20/21
1. Embiid
2. Lebron/Jokic - lebron better record, jokic way better numbers. and I know lbj has much better support, but for that not to matter, jokic will need to finish within 2 seeds of the lakers (i.e. 1st vs. 3rd)
3. not sure who i would put 3rd, maybe kawhi/pg

What puts LeBron over AD in your opinion? Seems bias to me. How is he over KD? How tied with Jokic who carries the Nuggets night in night out?
