I, as an unbiased Wolves fan, am willing to trade D'Lo for Cade to provide veteran leadership and a left handed PG mentor for Hayes.

Threads like this are pure evidence to why the casual internet basketball community arm chair PG really should shut the fu-ck up

You realize this kids been handed minutes since he entered the nba and has been pathetic thus far. Playing time has definitely NOT been the reason he's been bad lol

Been given a certain role and not being yanked at the slightest mistake has certainly helped. Casey now has given him a definitive role and allowed him to play through it. Now he has confidence. That is what a young player sometimes needs. Trust

He may turn the corner eventually and this may be the start but come on man...

The dude is shooting 35% for the season and is a career 37% shooter... and those aren't his 3pt percentages. He's having a career year from deep at 31%.

His full game logs do not paint a pretty picture:

You should check his past games logs... like I said, he's been gifted minutes his whole career even though he hasn't earned it. Hayes being good/bad hasn't been on anyone else but him.

If he turns it around, thank the Pistons for being so patient with a guy who's been a scrub for most of his career.

Just wait until we get a new coach and he gets away from Casey's awful management of him....

Yeah, but maybe if you package a trash Kendrick Nunn and a washed Beverly you can get a star player in return. At the very least, I'd imagine you could get a couple really good role players.

Since he started (11 games), he's averaging 12/6 (29.5 MPG) with only 1.7 TOV on 52.4% TS – with 16/40 (40%) on 3s – and provided his usual good defense. This still isn't good in terms of output by any stretch of the imagination but a lot better than what he has shown to start the season. Let's hope he gains confidence from that and manages to continue on this trajectory. I'd love to see him play in the NBA for a long time.

These are not his first real minutes or meaningful chance. I suppose you could say it's the biggest role he's had since the hip injury, but to pretend he hasn't been playing is odd.

I'm back to watching the Nuggets again this year after Cade went down. The Pistons are just too painful watch. I was expecting them to go for the playoffs after the Bojan trade.

Having said that, I haven't seen this version of Hayes, but I highly doubt those stats had any real impact on the game. He was so bad I'd have to see him reproduce it for at least the next 3 months before you could convince me he's any good.

If he ever ends up as an above average starter in this league it will have been proceeded by the longest and most expensive developmental period I've seen for a PG in the NBA.

This. He had a few good games, but he is still way below average, but those few good games are encouraging, considering where he was earlier this season. Detroit have been super patient with the kid, no other NBA team would have done that for him, so I hope he become a real NBA caliber player and have a long career with us.

- Hayes got hot yesterday. Almost all his shots were pull-ups.
- Hayes has been competent as a passer and defender for most of his NBA career.
- The reason Hayes has been disappointing is that he really shies away from contact on drives. This alone destroyed his draft projections of being a big physical guard who could attack and pass. Nothing about Hayes having a nice shooting night changed this core weakness of his.

I was huge on him in the draft. I loved watching him go off last night. If he gains more confidence in that jumpshot, that alone could save his NBA career. But the player that got hyped in the draft doesn't exist. We fundamentally misunderstood what kind of player he was. If I see Killian Hayes put his shoulder into a guy and bulldoze his way into an easy bucket, I'll stoke the fires of the old hype machine.

Killian reworked his jump shot over the offseason. It was clearly different. He had trouble adjusting early on, lost some confidence, but now he's comfortable. Previous seasons Killian lacked a go-to move on offense. He now has one. Its a mid-range pull up off the dribble. It's been money. That to me is the biggest difference. He needs to add other elements to his game for sure but its a nice start of something.
