Would be pleased to see Crypto.com go bankrupt one day, especially if it happens before the naming rights expire. Would that be a first?
This is probably one of the most ignorant posts I've ever seen regarding crypto and blockchain. It's literally changing the entire landscape of our financial system. Tokenizing assets provides huge benefits to the middle and working class, who otherwise would not have access to high priced assets like real estate. Crypto provides an alternative to citizens in economies with devastating inflation (Venezuela, Turkey, Iran). It's one thing to say crypto will fail (it might), it's ignorant (and very privileged) to say it does nothing to help people.

There is too much worthless crypto that these people are getting suckered into. Like Doge and Shibu Inu or whatever the hell that is called. These people will lose their shirts when it goes to 0

The Crypt is a great nickname for the stadium. Ngl. Crypto.com arena is a mouthful. But the crypt? I love it!

Crypto.com arena sounds awful.

Nobody is going to call it that unless they're contractally obligated to do so. The Crypt sounds pretty cool.

The old Candlestick Park, where the SF Giants played, was briefly named Monster Park. The sponsor was a company named Monster Cable, but most people seemed to assume it was named for Monster.com, the job search website. It was a great example of how not to market your company.

Any company that isn’t specific about something like this could be wasting a lot of money.

Exactly. The example you used is illustrative. You've swapped out the name of an airline for a bank. Whoopedy-doo. There is zero material difference. If this was an actual name, like the Forum or the Boston Garden, OK, that's a huge, huge step down. But getting pissed that an arena will be named after one corporation as opposed to another is peak idiocy.

It was also 3COM for a while too which I thought was a strange name at the time.

One thing I noticed is that in addition to have LED boards around the perimeter of the stadium, they also had older advertising signs that don't change throughout the game in addition to a non digital scoreboard - a throwback to when the arena was built in 1999. I believe the lower level of the suites has the fixed signs and the upper level the LED boards. I thought that was an awesome feature and given the history in that building - 6 Lakers titles in 22 years, I thought it was a very cool feature. A kind of being retro without intentially being retro feature.

I know this is off topic, but I hope they keep this feature.

Im glad you notice this stuff because I have noticed them as well. There are some interesting things around Staples Center that people never notice. For example people never talk about how it still uses the old Staples logo.

My post was the opposite of ignorant, sorry you can't see things for what they are.

It only benefits individuals who bought crypto and then saw it increase in value. Obviously it allowed some of those individuals "access to high priced assets" AKA it made them rich. But it ONLY benefits those who bought it and it ONLY benefits them when it goes up in value...which can't go on forever. On a broader societal level it does nothing of use. It only makes lucky participants richer and unlucky participants poorer. It's literally just an investment that carries risk and reward just like any other investment.

You suggest it provides an "alternative to citizens in economies with devastating inflation", even though the benefit only comes when the tokens go up in value, which is fundamentally opposite to stability and only benefits (or destroys) those who participate. It might happen to be more stable than fiat in some countries over some cherry-picked span of time, but tokens can obviously crash or boom and have thus far been some of the least stable assets ever known. Laughable to suggest they are somehow economically stable when virtually all the people who ever saw a benefit from crypto did so because the tokens are so volatile.

In any case, I hope you do well with your investments.

i think a lot of people didn't even realize it because "staples center" has been an iconic name for a while. but really yeah staples center is as lame a name as "kleenex arena", "charmin center" or any other lame brand you can put a sign up for.

the raptors used to play at the Air Canada Centre (ACC) until it was recently renamed the scotiabank arena. nobody in toronto really liked the change, but i think it was just because people were used to calling it the ACC and not because a bank is a lamer thing to be named after than an airline. i cheer for the pistons and i think the little caesar's arena is a super lame name, especially because the Palace of auburn hills was a pretty cool name. now madison square garden is the only arena that hasn't sold their naming rights.

Preach. They'll realize the truth soon enough. Too bad it will be too late for them to really capitalize. If only people realized how much more money I've made in crypto than savings/stocks/etc in a very short period of time they wouldn't be calling it a scam

Haters

As a fan of crypto, I love it.

Crypto.com being repeated over and over will be great publicity.

Who cares if you think it sounds funny or it's hard to say. You'll get used to it!

I said it's useless apart from being an investment. You jump in and say that you invested and made money...good for you. Where is the contradiction? Who called it a scam?

To be fair, when it comes to basketball, Staples has just as many championships and only three less Conference finals as the Forum had. Staples is 22 years old, sure, but the Forum was only 32 when the Lakers left. Though, obviously everything else about the Forum may be more historic.
