According to information from RMC Sport radio, the NBA will soon broadcast the French League matches of the Metropolitans 92, where the expected future first pick of the NBA draft, Victor Wembanyama, competes. His games with the French club will be accessible on the NBA League Pass platform, commented on in English, and the NBA will buy the rights from the French LNB league.

Yikes Lakers pick going to Pelicans. They could be a dynasty very quickly.

Crazy thing is, if Pelicans don’t make the playoffs and are a lotto team - they have TWO chances at Victor AND with combined odds, even BETTER odds landing #1 than even the 3 worst records in NBA (assuming not Lakers 1 of 3 by then).

If there was an American clone of Victor in the same draft, it'd still be safer for all the small market teams to pick Victor because you know he won't ask for a trade 5 or 6years later to a bigger market. In Europe markets dont exist, people dont even understand that notion, countries are tiny and there's just a single market in each of them.

yes we do understand the market : Mbappe just signed with PSG for 88M/yr ...

that's not really an indication of anything..
Arab oil Billionaries trying to buy legitimacy and influence and paying way above market prices just because they can, does not really a market make :)

My point (not very well made, i admit) is that we understand that notion of sport market in Europe

Remember that lnb (our french league) has no official broadcaster, just some streaming partners (who cover it for free but with obvious very limited possibilities/coverage).
Only couple of teams have invested in their own broadcasting ressources but it's not as pro as a usual broadcaster (less cameras, slow motion, zoom stuff etc).

If we had a good broadcaster, they (nba, espn or whatever network) would just buy the tv rights to 'our' broadcaster.

Knowing its probably very cheap for any american broadcaster (especially with $ current parity).

BeIn sport is the official broadcaster (one game per week if I remember correctly). This doesn't change the rest of your post, it was just to clarify.

He means (probably) that since Silver made some statements about the potential tanking this season (saying nba will monitor it), it's kinda paradoxal to broadcast the games of the potential cause of this tanking.

If Victor gets injured, all the people that are pissed about it have probably already prepared their "Jinx" post or threads

Also if we talk abt market, bball is nowaday international and the NBA has just talked during the announcment of Vic's games on the NBA app, that they also wanna expend to other leagues.
Victor not being in the NBA doesnt make him a money factor for the NBA, and more money for the French league that really need it.
And the NBA does that for the audience, to avoid ignorance like with Luka when litterally nobody saw him playing with Real Madrid. They dont do that for team to be more and more excited, any team know everything abt hm now. Time for y'all to see everything !

Do the Pelicans have the Lakers' 2023 pick/pick swap? What if they end up with Victor Wembanyama?

I've said dozens of times they should have stuck with SGA and built the right way.
