He hasn't been a very efficient offensive player. Very streaky 3 point shooter and he doesn't really playmake for others or get to the rim either. His best skill is mid range shooting so he's kind of a dinosaur offensively.

Is KD , Kyrie and Kawhi dinosaurs offensively? I swear some of you let this analytic BS cloud your judgement. I can name countless champions that used mid range to succeed. It’s only this “special” area where mid range is useless. This is crazy to me.

1) Lakers got a steal/Wiz should have held out for a first
2) Lakers overpaid /Wiz got fleeced
3) Rui is athletic

I'll admit I haven't watched the Lakers much, but it's not great when your consistently starting two 6-1 guards and a 6-4 SF. If anything, Rui is a guy who's still relatively young with lottery talent who has been able to be a rotation piece in the NBA. Just adding some size on the wing should help. Was there a better deal out there for Nunn's salary slot, some of those 2nds, and maybe a minimum guy or 2 - who knows. Doesn't seem like the Pistons were going to give up Burks for less than a 1st (not worth it for the Lakers) and maybe Josh Richardson isn't as available as we think, or he's a potential buyout guy. Or maybe there is another deal with Pat Bev or Lonnie for a bigger wing like Richardson.

Anyway, low risk because Nunn had no future with the Lakers and two of the 2nds are in years where the Lakers own 2 SRPs. Medium upside because the most you can expect from Rui is turning into an average rotation player.

I won’t say the Wizards got fleeced or anything, but this is a solid pick up for the Lakers. We desperately needed a bigger wing.

So Washington is going to max Kyle Kuzma. Just put their franchise in dictionary under the word mediocrity. Or treadmill.

Rui is not the most perfect fit for the Lakers, but they got no size outside of Bryant and James. Mr. Glass can only last for 20 straight games before he sits out 20 next games.

Why do the Lakers always get these deals?

What can Rui do better than Kuzma?

Nothing, he's a worse version of Kuzma and addresses nothing the Lakers need. "But but he's 6'8" yeah and he's an awful defender so who cares?

When did the Lakers hurt you bro? When we beat you for the chip?

How is that Lowry signing treating you?

You've asked multiple times in this thread if anyone can tell you about how Hachimura is as a player. Yet, when posters are telling you about him and his drawbacks, you are fighting with them and defending his fit in LA ... after admitting that you KNOW NOTHING about him as a player.

Makes sense.

What is he better than Kuzma at? Kyle is a far superior player

People don't want that trash. Yet Jokic was a second rounder, hmmm....

YEAH!!! I'm absolutely sure that the odds are super high that at least one of those SRP gets a Joker level player

They gave up a middling player they have no plans for. They don't have to hit on Joker level talent for it to be worth it. There's a long list of 2nd rounders that have hit in the league.

And obviously second round picks can be used in trade scenarios.

Well to be fair, RRR's takes are kind of outlandish. Both EPM and RAPTOR have Rui as a neutral to slightly positive defender. It's actually been his offensive efficiency dragging him down to average bench player impact levels, but I feel confident that improves in the Laker offense, which has been top 5-6 in the league in the last 20 games.

Finally, let's compare him to the alternative: a small 6 foot tall guard who is insanely redundant on this Lakers team, which is also lacking SF-PF scoring between LeBron and AD. When they won their title, they primarily got out in transition and had AD at the 5, with Morris at the 4. To me, Rui is going to play a much-needed Kuzma/Morris role. And he's still only 23 with the Lakers having RFA rights, and a former lottery pick.

I'm very confident the Lakers got better here.

Hachimura has great potential. In my opinion, he is close to All star potential. But he needs consistency. I think he can get it on LA. Great move by LA.

If Rui is re-signed, I'm sure you can trade him for at least 2 seconds, or use him as a mid-tier contract for a bigger move with your firsts. So essentially, you're taking a flyer on a real position of need for a very distant second.

For context, the Lakers had no seconds and bought a 35th pick last draft. And Austin Reaves was undrafted.

Washington has literally called their team building strategy “mid” lol if that ain’t a sign of things to come I don’t know what is.

Woj was saying that before the Rui trade came about, there were larger 3 team trades that involved Phoenix. Wonder what players were involved

Wizards could have got so much better than this.

Doesn’t make sense at all to give the Lakers a gift.

Hachimura rhymes with basura. Low bball iq and hasn’t shown much in the way of improvement since he was drafted. If Bron can reshape and guide him perhaps, otherwise Rui fittna be sushi soon.

Congrats Lakers, a good young player with upside for some 2nd rounders is a great trade for the Lakers, especially if they can keep Rui longer term. A real head-scratcher for the Wiz, was this really the best offer they got for Rui? He is most certainly better than this.

Lebrons elite basketball IQ should be able to fully utilize Hachimura to unlock his full potential.

He no longer has to rot on the Wizards.
