We'll see how it plays out...Porzingis had a pretty great year.

man did you see what they got back for Smart? That's insane return man. Smart's impact ain't that.

Basically White turned into better Marcus Smart this year with better shooting and Smart's defense fell off.

White, Brown, Tatum, Porzingis, RWill is an offensive and defensive monster lineup.

I think there is more work to be done but easy W imo

Ball movement sucks on that lineup. White needs to be replaced with a pass first PG or there will be a lot of contested 3 pointers jacked up in the playoffs.

nah I feel like White is a good enough passer and the floor spacing is insane especially with the inside threat of Timelord.

Floor spacing won't matter much if there's no ball movement. Most of those guys are ball stoppers than ball movers.

Celtics will skill their way in the regular season but will struggle in the playoffs when forced to take forced jumpers all game long. Just my opinion.

His injury was a broken hand and he even played through it in one game. Does he have some kind of condition where his bones can't heal? It is not like he tore his ACL or blew his Achilles.

That sounds like more of a coaching problem than a Smart problem. He doesn't have to be on the court or be around the ball in that situation and yet still provide the Celtics tremendous value.

No idea about the details, but given the clippers injury woes already, maybe they couldnt afford to absorb another injury to start the season?

Memphis has too many young players (on rookie contracts) as it is they need to develop. LaRavia, Aldama, Roddy, Zaire Williams. They are trying to win and be good now, so I get the trade to be honest from their perspective. Not sure how it's going to work when Morant is back, but as long as they have Bane and JJJ, they should be good to go.

Celtics must get Chris Paul to lead this team full of betas to NBA Title. CP3 is always good and miraculously healthy(2020 in Thunder, 2021 in Suns) in the first year his team trade him out of their roster.

Smart wasn't much of a point guard though. He's a great defender but his facilitation leaves much to be desired. He's put all his brain cells to defending and not into thinking on the offensive side.

I loved Marcus’s hustle and leadership, but he was also infuriating at times on offense. I think it was the right time to move him, and try something different.

They win because of their defense and this gives them another strong defender. It blends well with the team.

I might be the last person left on earth to think this but JJJ is more important to the Grizz becoming real contenders than Ja.

Memphis with 2 DPOY's and Adams coming back should be super nasty on defense.

On offense is the issue both Tyus and Dillion Brooks suck in the playoffs missing alot of open 3s something Smart is also know for.

But the leadership is what makes this a great trade for Memphis you need someone to help out Ja and Bane and Smart is just perfect when it comes to culture.

But that tells you how bad the Celtics are at that spot in terms of playmaking. They have needed a pass first PG for a long time and need one even more now.

Still made out like bandits value wise but not sure if it'll carry over to the court.

The Celtics won this trade, by a lot. They got the best player AND the best picks.

Memphis gives up Tyus Jones and two firsts(!)for Marcus Smart? Smart took a step back last year and isn't a lockdown defender anymore, White showed the Celtics he was the better guard in the postseason. Are we even certain Smart is a surefire upgrade on Jones? They needed some veteran leadership but slight thumbs down for Memphis, they let a proven homegrown talent go and overpayed for Smart.

Winger better have some galaxy brain stuff going on in Washington that mere mortals can't understand, because from the outside it looks like (in an age where Rudy freaking Gobert brought the Jazz 4 1sts, Walker Kessler, and 3 solid vets) the Wizards have traded away their two most valuable organizational assets for crypt-keeper Chris Paul, Tyus Jones, and a bag of Doritos. I understand that they want to start an overdue rebuild, but it seems downright incompetent to acquire zero young prospects and zero first rounders for Beal and Porzingis. Terrible asset management by the Wiz...befuddling. This is not how you start a rebuild.

Could Brown be sent to Por for #3 so Cs get Scoot? Is that a big enough star to keep Dame happy?

I'm ecstatic. I can't stand Smart with his flopping, finger-pointing, whining and fake tough guy act. Good riddance. Wizards at least got something for nothing and a better asset to move at the trade deadline to recoup a pick or get a young player. Memphis gets another gritty guy that can help them weather the storm. It's essentially a late 1st in a weak 2023 draft and a likely late 1st in 2024. Memphis is trying to win now. Nobody they draft in either year will help them more than Smart so it's a good move for them too. Win-win-win trade imho

Happy the Celtics finally got rid of the Smart. He was a great player but made so many boneheaded plays in the playoffs constantly.

It’s still a late first it’s not a big deal

Next years draft is awful and I don’t see the Warriors being awful
