Who Would You Rather Have: Jalen Duren Or Alperen Sengun?

I'd rather a god defender as my center than an offensive minded center. So I'll take Duren, unless Sengun can improve significantly on his defense than I'll take him because he's far more advanced on offense then Duren. But as things look right now I'll take Duren because his defensive value seems higher and I like my centers to be more defensive minded.

Maybe not too much better, you can only have so much overlapping talent. If Sengun isn't the hub on offense (and he likely shouldn't be over a guy like Shai) you're losing on his biggest strength while still dealing with all of his weaknesses. OKC is probably best with an off-ball player without the defensive/shooting weaknesses.

Chet and Sengun together are probably an amazing front court duo though.

they'd have to get rid of Giddey imo since Sengun becomes the main playmaker but Chet, Sengun, SGA probably fits and is a contender in a few years

Sengun doesn’t fit the 5 out play style around SGA. That’s why he wasn’t brought in in the first place.

Just matters who is more talented and affects the game more at a position (Sengun), than who is offensive/defensive. Jokic/Sabonis affect the game as much or more than any pure defensive centers in the league, and Sengun is following in those steps so far

Sengun is in a different universe when it comes to basketball skill. I'd take him 10/10 times without a second thought about it.

I've been a fan of Sengun since I first saw him, thought he was an easy top 5 talent in his draft, etc...

I can definitely see why people would overthink his flaws, but he's just been so incredibly productive and high level everywhere he's been, he just felt like a no brainer to produce. He's been a prodigy.

you are right. But me personally I like my defensive minded centers more, jut my opinion. But yes, if Sengun can be solid on defense then he wins this matchup because he's far more skilled on offense. But defense for centers is very important, can't be all offense and no defense at center. Just Look at Vucevic, it doesn't work.

i'm not sure what Duren will or won't be in the future but I highly doubt he'll ever be as good as Sengun is right now and he's only 21 lmfao

Duren is a very promising player and already very productive but Sengun is a star and is likely to develop into a superstar.

edit: future generations and thread bumpers need to know the vote was 52/48 in favor or Sengun after 308 votes, that's gonna look mighty funny 5 years from now.

I watched the Nuggets game last night and I thought Alpie was sensational. his mobility and burst are great, I thought he played some incredible defense. not only is he not a liability on that end (as advertised early in his career) - it's pretty damn good

and offensively well..if he gets a reliable 3 pt shot that thread about Sengun being a future MVP is gonna get bumped for real

Duren is a good prospect but come on now, fam. it isn't even remotely close.

I still remember a couple months back when ESPN didn’t even include Sengun on their top-100 list but found a way to make room for Collin freaking Sexton. Just goes to show how under the radar this guy really is. Largely ignored in their top 25 under 25 too.
