i can’t imagine what would have been your comment if they lost. LOL.

Team USA did fine, stepped up after falling down big to one of the world’s elite teams (with the best player in the world.

This victory is so much special compared to past blowouts and easy wins since they lost mid-2000.

Special, special achievent for them— and most importantly they’ll shut up the the rest of the world again for the next 3 or 4 years.

i imagine it’s tough for the Euro and international fans since they can’t touch this US team again until the games in Qatar and L.A., and that’s understandable as that’s a long wait.

He's taller than all of them, can play the 2, can shoot and is a pretty dang good defender. Without being the first option he would be even better on D. He's also a pretty good rebounder.

The only important thing is that Kerr understood it and stuck with his guns. If Tatum was there he would have gotten some of the KD and Bron minutes— those two legends stepped up big time and we don’t know if Tatum would have choked in the big moments again.

Masterful coaching decision from Kerr.

Really only the SG position is a bit of a weakness but who cares if you have Joker/GA/Luka/Wemby

I just want to say D.Booker has been playing his role absolutely perfectly for this team. A lot of stars can't adjust to playing with other stars, but booker's game right now is drastically different than his role on the suns. Kudos to him.

Throw Wagner or Markannen at the 2 and run the biggest lineup of all time.

The US has the best roster in the world without question. Winning is the minimum expectation.

SG Bogdanovic / Fournier
PG Schroder / Micic

Where Luka runs the point on offense, but you need Dennis to guard Steph or whoever runs the point for the USA. Weaker rotation on the guard spots but this team smokes team USA using an 8 man rotation in my opinion.

What if you are not from Europe or US? Obviously, you guys mean International vs US, in that case we get guys like SGA, Giddey in the mix, Embiid would play for USA all star team now...

Anyhow, all star game is not salvageable.

The biggest weakness for Team USA is that they don't play a lot of truly good initiators bringing the ball up the court (or don't want to ask guys like Curry and Lebron to do that). You can throw their offense out of rhythm by pressuring full court. This was the cruxt of the issue against Serbia. And I've seen teams get disrupted by it because it's what the Wolves did as well to Denver.

I think this is hard to adjust to in-game, but this is what team USA should be thinking about making sure they counter.

Yes, I am a Gobert fan, but agree he would be unlikely to make the team. Wemby and Porzingis are big offensive threats in addition to being good shot blocker/rim protectors like Gobert is.

Have you ever watched any team sport at this level when one game decides? Not always the one with the best roster wins, probably not even half of the time...Only in basketball one team has not lost for 20 years and they are somehow ridiculed.

Maybe thank basketball genius John Calipari for that.

A World All-Star team would be salty as hell.

They'd have the same issues we do in terms of figuring out a hierarchy and who can adjust from being The Guy to slotting into more limited roles. As amazing as they are, Jokic and Doncic might not fit together as seamlessly as you'd think given that they're both used to having an entire system run around them. To say nothing of an SGA, who I could easily see struggling with a more off-the-ball role. But in terms of raw talent, that would be an incredible collection. Frankly, I think they'd beat us more often than not.

And that's where the "world has caught up" notion rings true. For anybody who has been watching the NBA as long as I have (late 80s), the growth of the world talent pool over the past 30-plus years has been remarkable. You had oddities like Detlef Schrempf and Vlade Divac, who were really nice players. But I don't think anybody could have seen the complete sea change coming where the NBA is approaching a full third of its players being from overseas with perennial MVP candidates.

In terms of actual international games, however, it's always going to be an uphill climb because of the numbers game. We have almost 350 million people. Serbia is smaller than five different U.S. metro areas, let alone full states, let alone the entire country. They played an almost perfect game in the first half, had a 15-point lead with less than 11 minutes left, hit 15 3s through 3 quarters and it still wasn't enough. So that's what you're always going to be up against.
