I see everyone praising pierce for the clutch shots but my player of the game has to be Joe. He's the one who kept us in the lead throughout the whole game. With all the **** he takes about disappearing in the playoffs, he proved people wrong today

Deron deserves some props too, he cooled off as the game went on, but he set the tone from beginning to end. I wasn't expecting much out of him based on how he looked at the end of the regular season, but he played really well imo.

Raptors play with a lot of passion and effort, but have little of anything else, which is something that can only work in the regular season.

They just don't have the necessary players and coaching to be realistically competitive against a veteran team like the Nets. They're in the playoffs, but they're not a real playoff caliber team. Any team in the West, including a few that missed the playoffs, and any team in the East except for the Wizards, Hawks, and Bobcats are out of their league, imo.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they get swept.

Nets are lucky to have a closer like Pierce.

it was a close game after a nervy start for the raptors. What the hell are you talking about?

the raps in 4 stuff is a joke. Why do people take it so serious?

When you're a veteran team playing a young team on their homecourt, what you want is a close game at the end, so that you can take advantage of their inexperience (forget that the majority of the Raptor roster overachieved during the regular season, and the Nets were injured more often then not). It realistically wasn't that close at all after the Nets made their run.

The Raptors are no Bulls; they won't be beating anyone when they have the inferior roster.

Probably won't be such a great joke if it happens to go in the exact opposite direction.

Realistically "wasn't that close at all"? In what regard? You realize the largest the lead grew to was 8 following the first quarter surge by the Net, right? And what's with all this "overachieving inferior roster" talk. I guess every team we finished ahead of in the east overachieved as well then. Give them their due. They played very, very well this season, won 22 games on the road, and beat a number of very good teams. You're speaking from a place of ignorance. Chances are you didn't watch more than one or two Raptor games all year, if that. There's no sweep going on in this series. That's a ludicrous idea. Raptors are going to come back and win game two.

The Nets' vets came to play in the fourth and Toronto don't have much playoff experience in them. They'll have to learn fast. No time for panic for the Raptors though - Nets are far from unbeatable.

Meh. If you watched the press conference the reporter told him about it first and he said he didn't care and then responded like that to a follow up question.

It's still early in the series but it's hilarious that the Raps lose because just the other day their fans were pretty much hyping them up to no end.

I don't know how, but I'm pretty sure today's loss only increases the odds of Raps in 4.

Nets have 3 guys who can regularly create their own shot. Raps have arguably two. Young legs, more energy can get you through the regular season, but do the Raps have another level now that it's playoff time?

Valid points, but I still say we take game two. Should be a good one.

Win or lose, I expect the Raps to fight and give it all they have. It'll be fun for sure.

The Raptors looked stunned all game, and a part of me expected them to drop the first. Ross was out quick with two PF's, Derozan played as bad as I've seen him play, and Amir was ghost. I fear he's injured and playing through it. I just can't see BKN winning two games in a row in Toronto. The Raps have a ton of heart AND talent and I think they'll bounce back strong.

Agreed. What is notable for me as a Raptors fan is that the Nets have 3 guys that they start that can handle the ball (Livingston, Johnson, Pierce). The Raptors played Vazquez and Lowry together a lot today, but Lowry is the only starter that can handle the ball. Derozan tried to iso it way too much today which ended up badly most of the time. He needs to use screens or his teammates need to set screens for him, whichever it is.

Another thing I didn't get...when both Vazquez and Lowry were on the floor against Williams and Thornton (and at times also Livingston), why was Vazquez defending Williams instead of Lowry? Vazquez played well but he definitely does not gave the speed to keep up with Williams.

Hope my Raptors can bounce back and take one of the games in Brooklyn (my guess is they will lose game 3 but win game 4) and win it in 7.

I'm enjoying the back and forth though between the fanbases and I love the atmosphere the crowd/media have brought to the series. Sports are fun when there is some edginess to it and we've lost some of that in recent times.

I sincerely hope we paste the Nets in game 2.

Alot of Raptors fans had the referee excuse ready to go days before the series even started. they were going to play that card in the event of a loss no matter what... and its pretty foolish given that if anything the nets were more effected by some iffy calls.

The raptors lost cause they couldnt execute in the half court and pierce beasted the last 3 minutes. Had nothing to do with the officiating

Raptors played scared. Their offense was out of sync and there was a lack of ball movement. Team played too conservative and never established a flow.

If Raps lose game 2 I don't have much confidence in the rest of the series.

Massive brain fart lol. Make that 4 guys in their starting lineup. As to the second part, we will have to wait and see  .
