If that were true Kyle Korver, JJ Reddick and Duncan Robinson would be superstars, or at least All Stars. Steph has proven that his GOAT shooting masks his talent all over the floor.

It's wild that a player this historically great with as many personal and team accomplishments as he has is still this underrated, but here we are.

actually, imo for korver/redick, and duncan it's 100% because without that skill they'd be flipping burgers

in terms of translating to wins or win shares, THAT is a superstar thing not a role player thing.

I find it very laughable that you mentioned those guys and then tried to sound sophisticated after mentioning them.

Trevor Ariza was an old man and not as good as he was before
Patrick Beverly offense is bad limited
Capela is trash offensively

Not G league but on the cusp of it. I’ll give you Eric Gordon but he comes off the bench.

I want you to tell me who the 2nd best offense player in that staring lineup is. You don’t know right? Guess what, me either. There is no way that Rockets team should’ve been in 2nd-3rd place that year. Harrell was a pup at that time and was not thought of at that time. Can’t believe you even mentioned him.

You can’t tell me that Rockets roster should’ve been in 2nd-3rd place that year. That team was more like 10th-11th seed in the West that Harden carried to 2nd-3rd.

So you admit your comment was idiotic and not based on reality? You think a guy STILL in the nba and has started nearly every game he's played since was old at 31. You can only speak to offense which is half the game. Yeah we get it, you were wrong and your list of legit quality nba players were not G league level.

Also even better was the cute attempt to ignore a guy who didn't start despite being 3rd in minutes played (the only thing that matters). Just take your L and move on.

Old man Ariza is a good one. There’s people who believe, not entirely without reason, that losing Ariza after the 2018 playoffs made the Rockets a much worse team. Old man must have been quite something.

Do you seriously need me to name you some of the list of players who can't shoot who have a monumental place in this league dude? Draymond Green, Rudy Gobert, Ben Simmons, Dort, Thybull, Westbrook, Giannis, Jimmy Butler most nights, Lebron half his career, etc etc etc.

Your last sentence makes no sense and shows that you have no understanding of the game if I'm being honest.

i thought i made it clear that winning is a superstar thing not a role player thing,,,while you said how come redick duncan and korver arent superstars but they shoot. make up your mind. i made a clear distinction twixt being a superstar and being a shooter, as in they are mutually exclusive not necessarily inclusive.

My guy you said it yourself, "90% of the game is shooting". I threw you a bone by showcasing some of the premier shooters who will never see a max in their life (and then highlighted a handful of non-shooters who are staples and own maxes), but there are over 40 shooters shooting over 40% from 3 RIGHT NOW (hint: most don't see more than 20 mpg).

Just making sure you grasp that the unanimous MVP's game is not just about having a shot. Carry on lol.

42 points on 3 free throws. Would have had 50 if the refs manufactured it for him like they usually do.

Should this thread be archived? It deserves to be in the hall of fame.

I don't believe in statistics. There are too many factors that can't be measured. You can't measure a ballplayer's heart. -Red Auerbach

I was just about to write this same reply.

What a model does in theory has little to do with it does in practice.

Check the correlation between team level RPM and RPM with win-lose record, then get back to me.

Pure RAPM in theory has the properties you think you understand. ESPN's layer of heavily weighted box-score based priors further confounds the intended purpose of RAPM.

Steph was top-3 in RAPM for 5 of the past 8 seasons, including #1 twice.
