So long dunk contest, it was nice knowing you.

That they keep this horrible contest going is a great example of why David Stern shouldn't be commissioner of anything. Van Gundy for NBA Commissioner!

Shumpert wouldn't even have needed the "asian vote" if he wasn't injured.

Someone should sign James White just so he can compete and save this dunk contest.

Re: Official NBA All Star Saturday Night Discussion Thread
Worst dunk competition ever. All of these dunks were just gimmicks. Is it wrong for me to want to see a player just dunk it without having to wait 5 minutes for Kenny Smith to explain what's gonna happen? Not to mention they literally stopped the clock at times to help the players out when they couldn't pull these dunks off. Looks like the dunk competition will go from an exciting show of athleticism to overhyped dunks that don't even come close to impressing.
Also, whoever came up with the idea of total fan voting should be fired. Absolutely terrible idea because casual fans cannot be trusted to vote for the right player. If this is the direction that the dunk competition is going to, I'd rather see it scrapped entirely than see these lame dunks. If it wasn't for an entertaining 3PT contest, I would have felt like I've wasted 3 hours of my life on nothing.

Of course stern will bring it back next year, because he knows everyone will watch it just so they can complain about it. People love to complain about sh**.
