If voters pulled an okie doke and gave the award to Kawhi...would you guys be mad? Just curious.

It's ridiculously embarrassing how the Rockets fans with all these posts and threads to discredit what Westbrook had achieved this season. I'm sure rooting for Westbrook or even Kawhi/James to win the MVP now.

Sure, but combined with the statistics and watching film to back it up it is inarguable that Westbrook is an extreme example. As long as he plays solid defense before going for the rebound - and there are some doubts about it but I am not going to get into that debate - Westbrook grabbing an unprecedented number of uncontested rebounds and big men blocking out for him does look like a viable strategy to start transition offense. So I am not going to criticize the idea behind it but there is absolutely no reason to treat most of the rebounds as a positive achievement that helps his cause. Everything positive from the defensive rebounds is already implied in the offensive numbers (points in transition, higher field goal percentage, assists etc.) as they have either little, no or negative impact on the defensive possession itself.

Its now basically 50/50 odds wise... just 7 days ago Harden was a big favourite. Image

Are you sure about that? I'm tempted to use this as a sig.

yes, I am sure. its hard to find candidates more orientated to stats padding (I see first time per 25 years, how all players are stat padding for Westy stats), ball hogging, playing without defence, with so low FG%/eFG% and turnovers records. One floping on evry corner and other playing without brains. Also boths team results are around 50 wins.

I dont like Rose and it was sh... MVP, but his team was first in NBA and Rose's play was natural.

Lol get outta here man, Rose WON the thing and he wouldn't even be top 3-4 candidate this season

The Bulls won 60 games because they had an elite team defense. Just like Rose in 2011, there have been many worse MVP candidates than this year.

Freakin Melo finished 3rd a few years back. And loved the guy, but Jason Kidd finished second in MVP voting while averaging 14/9 on 50 TS%

Funny how people are actively campaigning AGAINST Westbrook. That video of the rebounds is just funny. First off, any Westbrook rebound is more dangerous to defenses than a rebound then hand off. You think Harden gets over 8 contested rebounds/game with 6'5" and kind of Paul Pierce slow athleticism? Where's the Harden video? No way he's all the sudden just beasting it on the boards this year.

Harden's injury could not have come at worse timing.

I do understand why it happens; but how I wish it didn't: We have two incredible athletes doing once in 50+ years things - and the overwhelming majority of posts are negative towards one (or both). Unfortunately, this makes this thread tough to read.

I'd be extra-fine with a co-MVP; TOUGH break for the guy who finishes 2nd.

I'll stay THRILLED with both of these guys' play and stats and team records.

No. We cannot have co-MVPs. It has to be one. I'm giving it to Russell Westbrook. We'll see when the regular season ends.

Just a question of clarification to you about "We cannot have co-MVPs".
Are you saying that it's impossible for the MVP voting to work out as equal for both? OR
Are you saying that, in your opinion, it'd be MORALLY incorrect to have co-MVPs?
P.S. Seeing as I LOVE multiple-choice questions; let me rephrase it:
a. It's impossible for the MVP voting to result in a tie;
b. It's morally wrong for the MVP voting to result in a tie;
c. Both of the above;
d. None of the above;
e. All of the above.

Curry is really underrated this year. Should be right up there with the top three but ruled out because of stupid narrative. He's probably also competing against last years curry In a lot of voters eyes, which is stupid also.

If we go by normal criteria I think it should be

1) harden
2) curry
3) goatbrook
4) kawhi

Huge gap who cares.

Westbrook over kawhi kind of contradicts my team record criteria you may think but I don't believe so. The other threes play and production is that much better than kawhis in my opinion that bumps him down.

Play/ production is still the main MVP criteria followed by team record and team improvement/ storyline.

I know people won't agree with curry over kawhi which is fair but harden and Westbrook have undoubtedly been a lot better that Leonard.

I just can't be down with Curry above Westbrook. He's honestly had a mediocre season by his standards. Westbrook n Harden are on another level that is all to themselves. You can't rest games when you're healthy and win MVP, when guys like Westbrook and Harden are putting up insane historical #s and scrapping every damn game they can for their team, because they don't have 3 other All Stars on their team and don't have the luxury to sacrifice a W for REST.
