Shai has never gotten over 64 TS and he’s close to 70 this year. It will come down once he starts to face better competition and align more with previous seasons. I do believe in outliers but the law of averages usually prevails. Jokic won’t be at 72 TS either but I can see him settling into the 68-70 range by seasons end. His heaves no longer hurting him has already had a positive impact on him.

Mitchell should be 4 or 5 Imo. Top 3 wont change all season besides order obviously. Cade will prolly finish higher but he shouldnt. Detroit has a much better roster around him theyre 3-0 w/o him this Cavs team isnt last years team which was still a buzzsaw w/o Mitchell. They flat stink this season. Jarrett and Strus injury, losing alot of depth specially Ty Jerome who was as good as any bench guard last season. W/o Mitchell Cavs would be a bottom 3 team w/ Wizards and Pelicans Imo. I remember some were arguing Garland over Mitchell last season b/c of on/off data   Garland is another Dlo horrendous defender, inconsistent offense specially shooting and scoring. Nice passer tho

Jokic has already hit 70 three season ago I can see him around 70 to 72 given he is a better shooter than he was 3 seasons ago.

Beating up on? SGA is at .398 in WS/48...but Jokic is at .397. Wouldn't exactly call that some kind of dominant lead. And Jokic is also leading in straight WS and on pace to get to 23.5 for the season. Only two players have topped 20 since the 1970s, being Lebron James in 08/09 at 20.25 and Michael Jordan three times (20.30, 20.43, 21.23).

That is LeBron's most statistically dominant season and Jordan's three most iconic seasons: 1988, 1991, and 1996. All four won the MVP.

The Cade disrespect is real. This is clearly between Jokic and SGA but some of the names being in the pool and Cade's name not being mentioned is laughable.

Cade has to be in the top 5 in my book.
Best player on the best team in the East.
Impact stats have him 7th in EPM wins, 5th in LEBRON wins,
Jordan Walsh goes top 10 in a 2023 redraft.

Thread was made before the season even started, this is usual for MVP threads around here.

We need part 2 soon though yeah, it's become a bit outdated at this point.

This happened last year. I looked and there was a gap, then a few games later Jokic closed it. Did he have a few crazy games? Because when I looked a few days ago Jokic was at like .365 or something I thought (very possible I just misread it). Either way... the metric darling should not be losing to SGA, especially EPM where SGA is smacking him.

Cade is 100% there. As said by you and others, it's a two-man race, but I have Cade top 5 for the reasons you said.

The reason he fell off a bit and SGA took the lead was that Jokic is playing with a strained wrist the last 3 weeks it is finally getting better(hopefully) so his efficiency has increased hence why he is closer to taking over the lead again I think.

Jokic is having the best offensive season of all-time by a huge margin and if I had to pick a guy to win a game for my life, he’s who I’m choosing, but as long as SGA’s on pace to set the wins record while also leading the league in EPM he has to be the MVP. He just does.

When someone claims SGA deserves MVP, the argument starts and ends with team record. When someone claims Jokic deserves MVP, the argument starts and ends with him having arguably the best individual season in the history of the NBA. That’s the difference.

You seem to be having a REALLY tough time wrapping your head around the fact that SGA is having one of those seasons as well. :)

Shai better enjoy it because it will be his last

I watch a lot of different sports from across the world. There are few athletes I’ve ever seen that change the game like Wemby.

If he stays healthy and can hit the 65 games, it’s likely he’ll be MVP year after year.

You as a Jokic hater are on SGA, and now you're switching to Wemby, quite hilarious. You still on Luka MVP?

Wemby is the most impactful player in the league when healthy. Been saying that since game 1.

What does Jokic or Luka have to do with anything?
