Lets not act like KD's riding of Curry's coattails on a 73 win team is the same as LeBron carrying his team to victory vs a superior,STACKED OKC(okc was favoured to win in 2012)

I think it's funny trying to rationalize with a dude whose name is TEAMLEBRON....but Ill try.

They didn't win 73 this year on the coat tails. Only 67, so did Durant make them worse?

And TEAMLEBRON has always taken the easy road by staying in the East. The absolute easiest path to the Finals by not having to deal with the loaded West in the regular season or Playoffs. So...there's that.

They are even when facing each other in the Finals. It's a fact you can't explain away. Simple math doesn't seem to be possible for a lot of LeBron fans, not sure why that is.

And it's your opinion that he was an underdog in 2012. The Heat team was Damn stacked. Not sure why LeBron fans try to make it sound like he didn't play with other stars and hall of famers. Not to mention, that OKC team was extremely young. So you are probably attaching who they are now to who they were then, when we all know they evolve as years go by.

It's one to one...just deal with it.

66 wins...LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Ray Allen....hmmm....I should have bet that Finals, I would have won a boatload. Because I never would have figured them, or put them as the underdog.

Thanks for posting the odds though.

why would anyone use the "they won fewer games this year with Durant" argument when everyone knows that Durant missed a chunk of the season and the warriors weren't making a proactive effort to break the wins record the way they had the previous season? Plus just absorbing him into the lineup is going to create a learning curve.

When you say "loaded West" you mean Golden State and San Antonio, right? Because 3-8 West is no better than 2-8 East.

OKC was the favorites for some reason. Probably because Vegas expected LeBron to choke and didn't take into account the Thunder's inexperience.

KD on the hardest road on the podcast with Simmons:

"We put in work, man. Stop telling that it wasn't earned or we didn't work for it man. We were the most disciplined team all year, we preached teamwork and togetherness all season, and it's hard to do that with a bunch of egos in the league, and we peaked at the perfect time.
We got better when I got hurt. We struggled at first, then, as a smart team does, that plays together, that's unpredictable out there, they figured it out, and when I was hurt, they took it to another level. And then when I came back, we just kept going from there."

If harden had played in the finals the way he'd played in the conference finals, arguably they could've/should've won the finals.

Actually that was a lockout shortened season and the Heat finished with 46 wins , one less than okc with 47.
OKC roamed through the west vs defending champions Dallas Mavericks (4–0), the Los Angeles Lakers (4–1), and the #1 West Seed San Antonio Spurs (4–2)

This year. LeBron has been in the Finals for something like 9 years straight. The West has been loaded for years versus the East. It's a much easier road getting there for him in the East.

The more egos to manage argument for a harder road to a championship....

You could apply that same logic to a U.S. dream team's path to a gold medal. "People say it was too easy, we had too much talent, but we had to play hard, play together, had to manage our egos.." etc.

And yet we intuitively appreciate that the path to gold for any other country is going to be harder and more well-earned, with a smaller margin of error, than the path for the Dream Team. Nobody wants to hear: "Our path was just as hard as Angola's cuz of egos".

Man, Bill Simmons has become a hardcore defender of Durant (just ignore that he's gotten to interview him 4 times since he signed). The other day on his podcast, he was literally saying that people critical of it "need to STFU" and that it "pisses him off." It's not a good look when pundits/writers with privileged interview access to someone, whether an athlete or a politician, also become stalwart defenders of them. It comes off as a little sycophantic. Feels less like punditry and more like PR work.

Last year after i heard about the Green suspension i got a bad feeling, for the first time i thought we can lose the series.
Game 5 confirmed my fear, and it was all downwards from there.
I was left with the feeling that with Green on the field the series would have ended there.
After this last two games i think maybe, just maybe the Cavs would have won it anyway. They showed a lot of grit, a lot of heart and balls when on the line, the y earned my respect as a team. i still don't like them, but i respect them.
In this series we really needed Durant to close it. Without him i can see a 3-2 lead for the Cavs now, with them winning games 3 and 5.
And as winning cures all maybe i will have the heart to watch games 5-7 from last year.

Anyway, what i am trying to say is congrats to the Cavs for a well fought series.

David West could've just played out his $10mil last year deal with Pacers instead of going to Spurs....then jump ship to Warriors like he did this year....get his 10mil and a ring, but he decided otherwise.

Sure. Not written in stone but in my opinion at that moment that's my top 10 in quality. If you want to quantify which championship was the best I'm sure the 2017 Warriors had the best one. But Dallas had a great struggle to overcome to win their championship and I respect what they had to go through to win it. It had a story about it of a hero overcoming unsurmountable odds. Here it's the hero tying up with a bunch of other hero's to take out lesser foes.

Do you even understand the words you speak? "If you quantify which championship is the best then the warriors had the best one." What??? Quantitatively, they're all the exact same. They all have 1 championship. That's quantity. Quality means how good. The warriors are technically at the top. Highest margin of victory and best record. Best quality. I don't understand what you're saying.

Quantity yes, by advanced statistics, DRAT, ORAT, efficiency in general they are the best team of the last 10 years.

Idk how he can even enjoy this that much. He's been with the team for less than a calendar year lol. What kind of allegiance or pride do you have for a team that you hated last year. Just lame.

its a sport... you think he really hated them or he was disappointed he lost?

The amount of people on here throwing out garbage like this is mind blowing.

Yeah - I do think he was dissapointed when he lost the previous year.....
He was in tears when he lost in the finals his first go around.

And you cant tell me the utility of winning on OKC is not at least 3x higher than winning it the way he did this year

I don't know if you remember how great OKC was considered after they knocked out the spurs in 4 straight after falling behind 2-0 after the spurs had won their first 10 playoff games. OKC was seen as the second coming, they were seen as the soon to be dynasty that is GS now.

Okc looked like a legit contender after the conference finals in 2012, and after game 1 of the finals. But as the finals played out, it was clear their lack of experience and lack of 4th quarter coaching/execution/poise was an issue that would prevent them from beating Miami.

No doubt, my thoughts were that since they were so young, they hadn't learned how to close out a Championship. And they were going against a veteran squad with LeBron Wade and Bosh. Not to mention the rest of the solid roster.

In hindsight we can look back and know how good Harden, Durant, and Westbrook are, but back then they were young and up and coming. Which they proved to be.

I just know that at the time I picked the Heat to win for the reasons I laid out.
