It's back on now.

Statement win for Jokic and Denver tonight in OKC. The matchup wasn't close. Jokic steamrolled SGA.

Jokic more impressive in the two games because he didn't sit out the game before to try to make an MVP showing in the Sunday game like SGA did.

Jokic is still, by far, the best player in the world and that came through clearly tonight, even against a team that usually can slow him down with double teams.
Jokic 31/21/22
Luka & Oscar = 5 x 27/8/8
The Brodie = All-out energy

And that's after an awful start to the season. Since then those same stats are clearly in murrays favor.

just because Murray's stats are good doesn't mean he's been playing well. he hasn't.
Yeah man. He really doesn't look like he's been playing that well. Not that good. Albatross contract. Awful fit. All that good stuff :)

he can have good and even great games and he had one tonight, mostly that 2nd half
on that title run he was phenomenal but he usually struggles to do it on a nightly basis, he was a complete no-show for that WCF series vs. the Wolves and he's injury prone which makes him overpaid

btw he wasn't playing well the first half of this one despite making some shots. they'd still be a better team with J-Dub in his place, not to mention what J-Dub is making compared to Murray :)

I’ll still plant my flag firmly behind SGA. Jokic needed to dominate both games to make up the edge. Instead, they split.

These two games that Denver and OKC split.

SGA: 32.5/5.5/6 62.3%ts -3.5 +/- Jokic: 29.5/15.5/8.5 61.7%ts -2.5 +/-

SGA's best game: 40/8/5 on 56.3%TS 30.2 game score

Jokic's best game: 35/18/8 on 78.8%ts 37.5 game score.

Jokic was slightly better over this stretch, AND he had the best game in this series.

All of this after a back to back on the road, 2 days after OT in Phoenix, while busting his elbow.

Can we stop pretending these two are same caliber of player?

Jokic outplayed him over the two games, had the best game of the series and did this back to back on the road, busting his elbow up, less than 48 hours after 43 minutes in a late OT game vs Phoenix.

Arguably his best 3 game stretch, secured the 2 seed and showed as superior to SGA all things considered. What more could you want outside of winning back to back?

Yep. That's a difference between SGA and Jokic.

I can't see Jokic ever agreeing to take a game off to rest up for an MVP audition like SGA just did. That's just not who Jokic is.

A lot of guys would do that, but I don't think Jokic would.

I've been vindicated. My mvp vote still goes to SGA. But not because hes playing better basketball. Thats been proven head to head here.

That is all and, ive said my piece. Love you all, even the ones whos skin I got under.

Looking forward to the playoffs. Rejoice all! Jaqua92 is exiting this thread!

Yeah, give Jokic the MVP. MVP fatigue is a silly reason not to give a guy the MVP. If he's putting up league historical numbers and the guy's team is lottery level when he's off the floor, then that guy should win MVP.

One thing I love about Jokic is that he never makes any excuses - you'll never hear anything about injuries or wear and tear from him. Which is crazy because no team has ridden a player like the Nuggets have with Jokic over the last 6 years or so. His load is obscene. In a day and age when basically everyone's load managing, he just shows up every day.
