Re: Kyrie Trade Discussion Continued
Bill Simmons brought up a good point, would Phoenix be unwilling to deal Jackson because of the Suns promise and the way they conspired to get him and keep him from working out in Boston (Which I don't have a problem with, it's not an unusual thing to do just the way they canceled on Boston mid flight was really douchey. Just don't work out at all..)? It might look real bad with agent relationships to promise to take Jackson and keep him from working out in Boston and turn around and trade him.

Would you go to war with someone who privately told you they want to fight for the other side? Nearly impossible to view them the same way or rely on them to have your back. Cavs will either wait till the 14th when the player pool opens up a bit more or move him before camp . He would likely be deactivated until they found a trade that worked for both parties that way he isnt a cancer and also mitigates injury risk before moving him. Remember these guys are like investment stocks to alot of these owners so they will take their time.Froob wrote:Think he stays, I don't think there's a trade that makes sense unless it's Jackson/Bledsoe. Ultimately, Kyrie either has to play or not get paid (right?).
I disagree and think that is a bad analogy. He did not say he wants to fight for "the other side". That would be akin to wanting to join Golden State (cough Durant). He simply wants to go somewhere else. Its the opposite of Cleveland dangling Love in teams faces trying to get rid of him. But that doesn't mean Love will refuse to suit up and play if a trade doesnt transpire. The Cavs have all the leverage and Kyrie has none so if they don't get the kings ransom they are looking for then he has to suck it up for the time being. He already had moments last playoffs where he didnt talk to anyone supposedly so it wont be that new.

Fair point but if your Josh Jackson's camp, you go from #4 pick/lotto team to a championship contender learning alongside a generational talent in LBJ. I think JJ and his agent would more than easily get over whatever collusion strategy they came up with to screw over Ainge.
I would think JJ would def. be happy. The question would be does PHO think as much? IMO, I don't get why PHO would even want Kyrie outside of putting butts in the seats as in the long run, I just don't think they become a better team because of a trade. In fact, I think they get a little worse in the grand scheme.

Cavs should accommodate Lebron, who is leaving in 2018? Or they should try to rebuild?
As the probability of winning are more than 3% if you are already in the finals, they should try to win now. So trade Kyre for a good player in his prime. No young stars

What was the Sun's "promise" to Jackson? To pick him and not trade him?

If NY gives away Porzingis, there WILL be riots.
Cavs fans need to get that out of their heads now because in no alternate reality does that ever happen.
So no, not a chance even with Love being added to Kyrie and Noah being in the outgoing?? Not a chance??
Helllll noooo. Even if the Cavs offered to take all their garbage contracts back they wouldn't give up the unicorn.
That would be franchise suicide. The kid is barely tapping into his potential, meanwhile Kyrie is close to his peak level probably.

Kyrie is a good player too. I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world basketball-wise to trade KP for him, but from a PR perspective it would be a disaster. NYK really loves him.

Not if he thinks LeBron may leave, potentially a very bad situation.

Really close though. If they did it and CLE made the finals, LeBron would prove that he literally CAN take a lottery team to the finals...

Look if the Cavs got Porzingas and Noah for Kyrie, they would worry about getting a pg next. They are trading a young star and they want a young star back (or a potential young star back). Someone (not sure if its NY) will do that, because as they say one in the hand is worth two in the bush (or something like that). "Potential" doesn't get you wins and put fans in the seats, and attract other NBA players in free agency.

I agree, its about titles and with lebron you have a chance. Your roster is full of win now players so try for one more ring and if you lose to the warriors so what. Your going to be bad once lebron leaves regardless and I promise you will never get a player of his caliber again. At least now you will have a banner in the rafters to reminisce about while you suck.

Cavs get Miami 2018 from Suns ( Cavs keep it if it falls between 8-14,Suns keep it 15-30,Miami keeps it 1-7)if not transferred Cavs get Suns 2021 1st from Miami unprotected.
Cav's also get NY's 2018 Lottery protected until 2019 where it becomes unprotected.
NY gets Cavs 2019 second round draft pick from Minnesota or L.A. Lakers (less favorable)& Suns 2018 2nd round pick from Toronto.
Suns get 2020 top 10 protected from NY,unprotected in 2021.
Cav's get what they want in a vet pg and a blue chip rook.+ picks. But loses their all star guard.
NY gets better with KI and Bender pawns Noah but gives up KP and a 1st.
Phoenix gets better long term adding KP and Ntilikina & Osman for eating Noahs C & shipping JJ / Bender but retains their own 1st round picks & gets another to make up for the Miami pick they ship out.
Not that unrealistic from any teams perspective depending on the value held by each org on player movement.

They'd have enough to potentially sign two max contracts depending on what happens in a Melo trade.
