Seems nobody is taking the bait on the NBAs attempt to get both Embiid and Joker on 1st Team via the forward distinction, which is good.

They are both centers. Embiid is a center. Jokic is a center.

The real issue I have is Anthony Davis being classified as a center for all nba the last few years. When AD does not guard centers often. Probably less than 30% of the time. Just watch the games the last 4-5 seasons. That’s a real problem with me. AD shys away from guarding bigs. Even in New Orleans. He’s got 6 foot 8 Julius Randle guarding centers when Randle played down there.

Just found a couple Curry MVP votes (not updated on that spreadsheet), so no unanimous for the Joker it seems.

I just love fact-based arguments, especially when so erudite and clear.

its about expectations, if Jokic can win UMVP while leading a team to a 47 win season...whats stopping him to win another 3? i mean its not like 47 win is a high bar...Denver will easily win 50 win next year and 54 next :) Lebron has not won a MVP until his team wins 66 games. see my point?

I dont see your point. I think there should be more unanimous MVPs. I get why a Warriors fan would like it to be rare

You’re missing this teeny-tiny little fact that this has been a 72-game season:)

37 wins!

good try. Malone 's winning % is 74% compare to Jokic's 66%.

Jokic has the 2nd lowest winning % in 20 years only behind Westbrook.

Hey, you can have your own idea of what MVP is and I can have mine. My ideology for MVP has Jokic this year just as it did with Curry in 2017.

This just shows how stupid is to try to force Curry into conversation with 54% winning %. Jokic's winning % is at least respectable and he was the best player in the league, while Curry's winning % is laughable and, oh yes, he was scoring champ. So in your opinion Gobert is probably MVP with winning % 72.

Would be surprised. Especially since Embiid was on the list for a while, CP3 had mentions and How Curry ended the season

People are cough in overanalyzing this. If Jokic wins MVP unanimously it shouldn't be put in historical perspective, second unanimous after Curry, blah, blah... The fact is that he is having the best case for MVP looking in all criteria like stats, winning, games played, value for team... Every other candidate is low on some of this criteria, he is checking every box. And to vote for anyone else simply to prevent Jokic from winning it anonymously is stupid. It doesn't mean that Jokic's season is second best in history by no means.

I agree. He didn’t get unanimous though. Reggie and Jordan Hughes have already said they’re 100% voting Curry, they’re just not on the spreadsheet yet.

we are aligned then:

my final ranking:
1. Jokic (good record with less help from last year)
2. Curry (best player in the league, improved 20+ wins)
3. Gobert (best player on best team)
4. Embiid (if he plays 20 more games he would be my top pick)
5. CP3 (best player on 2nd best team)

Unanimous is extremely challenging as there will always be biased voters and haters. Just think that LeBron's 2013 was ruined by one vote to Melo, and KG 2014 lost two votes to Jermaine O'Neal :banghead: .
