I don't get the butthurt about Kyrie talking **** to Boston fans.

I personally don't have a problem with them booing Kyrie. I would probably hate Kyrie if I was a Celtics fan too.

But don't dish out what you can't take back. Kyrie was this close to owning Boston and shutting everyone up.

No one is butthurt. They're just pissed that the guy who started this fight is taking offense to how they act. The Celtic fan base in Kyries world

Yeah no doubt but Kobe wasn't going to be content being the second option for long. Kyrie seems cool with it as long as he can be himself and play his game. Probably lebron's best teammate even if he's like the third best player lebron's played with because he plays his role and he's a **** monster at it.

People label Kyrie selfish but he doesn't strike me as the type of guy who feels the need to be the man on his team like Kobe did.

I thought the whole reason he left Cleveland was that he was annoyed he wasn't getting any of the love LeBron was? Why else leave a team that was arguably one of the greatest teams of all time in a year they just happened to face the greatest one ever? They absolutely crushed the playoffs in 2017 until the Finals (of course LeBron going insane mode the following year and almost pulling off the same thing with a much worse team took some of the luster of Kyrie's contributions, but we didn't know that then).

LeBron's best teammate was 2020 AD, followed by 2011 Wade.

Thought it had more to do with the Cavs and Lebron trying to trade him?

Like I said AD and Wade were definitely better than Kyrie, but I feel Kyrie was a way better fit than both on offense. Dude can play on and off the ball equally well and seems to thrive in big moments. I'm still weary about AD's offense compared to Kyries and Wade just wasn't the shooter Kyrie is even if he's overall a better player than Kyrie.

Personally I love that Kyrie willing to embrace the villain role. Makes for good entertainment. Kinda reminds of LeBron in Miami except LeBron never truly wanted to accept the role. Too worried about marketing to all fans.

IDK, he isn't going in like Trae, Bev, Bobby Portis, Reggie Miller where it is back and forth banter and that they enjoy it. Ky looks completely pissed off about it and, from my point of view, it is frustration from caring too much, versus not giving a ****.

There were 2, maybe 3, that weren't tightly contested. Horford and Tatum in particular played some great defense on him. He may go off in this series, but the Celtics' D is not going to make it easy on him. When he tries to target a smaller guard like Pritchard with a screen, they put two on the ball with KD instead of switching. His best hope for getting open shots, like in this game, are in transition.

He just went nuclear, especially in the 4th, making some really good, contested shots. However, he had quite a few open looks too, especially from 3. He was often able to get them via 1-5 switches with Claxton and Drummond when Theis would drop into the paint instead of contesting. That could continue to be something the Nets exploit this series.

As a side note, Tatum blocking both Kyrie and KD jumpshots in one game is just freaking sick. What a game he had.

I have seen the segment you are discussing, and they didn't have any new reporting on this issue beyond what Kyrie himself said. According to Kyrie himself (and unfortunately, the swear filter is going to make this look dumb), he was called the b word, the p word, and to go f himself. If a fan yelled a racial slur at him, he didn't say anything about it.

Tatum defended Durant for 38 possessions (Jaylen, Al, and Smart combined for 27 possessions on KD). In those 38 possessions, Durant had 4 points on 2-6 shooting, with 4 turnovers and a blocked shot. No assists in that time either, since they didn’t have to over help.

Kyrie went 3-4 against Tatum, 3-3 against Jaylen, and 3-5 against Theis.

The Celtics played excellent defense on KD but they can play similar in the rest of the series and KD will average +30 fairly easily anyway.

Last night KD shot great in the few open/wide open shot opportunities he had and terrible on the contested ones he usually takes his whole career.



Now compare that to his whole series against the Bucks. Great defense with Jrue, PJ Tucker, Giannis and Middleton switching on him and KD shooting mostly contested fadeaways the whole time because the Bucks paint was completely shut down with the Lopez and Giannis rim protection.

As you can see he shot amazing on the few open/wide open shot opportunities and was slightly less efficient on his tight and very tightly contested shots he usually takes like the defense barelly mattered.



TDLR: KD will never have such a bad night again no matter what Tatum or the rest of the Boston defense will do to him.

I don't see why any fan of either team is gloating at this point.

The Celtics barely escaped a devastating loss at home. For most of the game their offense was stagnant with way too much dribbling from Tatum. They were obviously nervous and made numerous mental mistakes. There is no way the Celtics win a game in Brooklyn playing as they did yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Nets-- supposedly the veteran team loaded with superstars--had the game won with a minute to go, but they got zero stops. They let Jaylen Brown waltz in on one possession, and misdefended the last possession. On the Nets last offensive possession, Kyrie had open shooters but instead he played hero ball and dribbled away most of the clock, and the best the Nets could do was Durant's faith heave.
