Riddle me this though, I hear about how these Sign and Trades will allow them to keep bird rights and MLE, but I'm not sure how that work unless they are taking a bunch of guys with?

even with the SnT of Bosh and Bron they are still under the cap right? Or can they do those and still hold on to the cap holds which in turn puts them over the cap and gets them the MLE as well?

so technically with trades they're cap is 61 mil ish because of the Haslem Cap hold? Then they are considered over the cap and get MLE?

Thats sneaky, and good for them. Haslem is a nice piece. But then Miller takes MLE basically. So you are still left with vet mins to fill it out from there...

interesting.

THEY CAN ONLY SIGN PLAYERS TO THE MINIMUM.
THEY DO NOT HAVE THE MLE.
THEY RENOUNCED ALL OF THEIR FREE AGENTS.
THEY ARE CAPPED OUT.

Let's get some things straight.

They can get Haslem + Miller - if they can pull of the S&Ts.

They do have the MLE if they can pull off S&T for both Bosh and LeBron.

Haslem's cap hold changes to his first year salary once he signs a new contract, they do have his bird rights until they renounce it, which they don't have to renounce if they pull of S&T for Bosh & LeBron.

My question is.

WHY THE **** WOULD CLEVELAND HELP THEM BY S&T LEBRON???

Are 2 or 3 1st rounders really worth helping the team of the guy who just ripped your heart out? It's one thing for Toronto to accept because Bosh was gone long ago and they need assets. Cleveland is f&cked, 2 or 3 1st round picks are not worthwhile compensation to bow down and get f&cked again by LeBron.

I think we'll be fine.

Uh, not quite

Yes. You can browse our Heat board. The details are there. We'll have the bird rights to Udonis, Q-Rich and Dorrell Wright once LBJ's S&T is completed. Plus we'll be able to use the MLE.

The Heat can't use the MLE this summer becuase they started the offseason off under the salary cap.

That's not the criteria for using MLE. You have to renounce the MLE to use cap space to sign players. If you don't use cap space to sign players you don't have to renounce the MLE.

They won't have a good team this year... Next year is most likely have a better roster....

Although I believe trading all those 1st round picks were obviously a mistake.

They need draft picks in order to be good.

No.

To have the cap room necessary to absorb the contracts in a S&T for nothing/draft picks, the MLE either never would've been awarded (because their total salary, including cap holds and exceptions, was still below the cap) or it would've had to be renounced (along with rights to players) to free up the cap room.

Haslem's cap hold (until he's renounced or resigned at a lower figure) would count against the cap, so it's not possible for them to trade for Lebron and/or Bosh for draft picks and then be over the cap. It wouldn't be a legal trade.

I don't see how the Heat could possibly sign both Haslem and Miller. They can probably get one, but not the other. I don't know why so many people are saying the Heat will sign both guys.

AFAIK, the Big Three were expected to take $1 million pay cuts EACH just to fit under the cap with Beasley and Chambers. Later the Heat were able to unload Beasley. Beasley's former salary should be just enough to sign Haslem or Miller, but not both. And that's already with the Big Three having presumably taken $1 million pay cuts each.

$1 million pay cut is nothing to scoff at. At 6 years with 3 players, the Heat are basically asking them to forgo $18 million dollars just to bring in a mediocre role player.

If I have misunderstood the Heat's situation, please correct me. These S&T don't really help the Heat's cap situation. All it does is give the 3 guys a guaranteed 6th year.

In the press conference just now (the legit one with the media in the back room and the players in the suits not in the one for the fans) Wade made it very clear that Haslem was coming back to the Heat.

James, Wade, Bosh, Miller, Chalmers, Haslem. I'm expecting Shaq to join this team also.

Now that the Heat have a real team; it's time to get a real coach

But since the trades weren't within 125%, the Heat used cap space. A lot of it.

I'll say this.

People are understimating Bosh.

Bosh was better than Gasol at this age. We've seen how Gasol has upped his game now that he is not a no.1 guy.

fanofcoils wrote:You would think they would have signed their 9 minimum guys now as hundreds of players would want to play for a leading title contender, but that hasn't happened, looks like the Heat are in trouble!

Wade, LBJ, Bosh, Miller, Chalmers plus 3 second round picks and i think Raja said he'd go there for minimum.
