I wish I shared your optimism but I think it will be a tough fight.
Turkey is playing some high quality ball right now as I know we are doing the same.
Turkey is also gonna have the Home Crowd Behind them and I know it is a gonna be a hostile environment.

I know alot of people feel like it would be a cowardly move but I would like to see Team USA run a 2-3 zone on Turkey

My keys for the game:
For Turkey:
- The turkish zone. They used it against Serbia, and it worked quite well, so against a team with no that good shoters could be very effective.
- Defend on Durant. Turkey has Turkoglu and Ilyasova, players fast and mobile who can try to stop him and a lot of centers who will not be afraid of making fouls.
- Rebound. Turkey´s centers are very tall and good on rebounds, including Ilyasova, one of the best rebounders of the tournament.

For USA:
- Defend on Tunceri. He´s one of the slowest player in the tournament by far, against the american guards he´ll be in trouble and could make many turnovers.
- Help for Durant. So far he is the only threat for american´s opponents. If he´d get injuried I can´t say what could happen.
- Outside shooting. They need to get good percentages in order to avoid close zones.

The youth as excuse

Post#24 » by Franstyle » Sun Sep 12, 2010 6:03 pm

Serbia is one of the youngest teams in the tournament, when they lost I haven´t heart them that the defeat was because of their age.
USA also has a young team, if they lose I hope not to hear the youth excuse.

If im not mistaken Serbia wasnt expected to win Gold.. When your the underdog, there never has to be an excuse for losing. When you're USA basketball anything less than Gold is underachieving.. (this is the mind state we Americans have of our basketball for the most part)

Someone slip Hedo some pizza. As far as the crowd is concerned, just tell the young guys that the crowd whistling is Turkey cheering for Team USA. lol.

If Ilyasova and Turkoglu play great, they can beat this USA team. They're not All-Star caliber players, but they are starters for their respective teams. Turkoglu causes all kinds of mis-matches with his height and shooting ability. Ilyasova can shoot and is a tough defender. I'm interested to see how well he guards Durant. I'm a die hard USA fan, but this team hasn't looked that good in this tournament. If Durant misses shots, Turkey gets out to an early lead, the crowd gets into it, and the refs swallow their whistles, this game could get away from them. The one weakness the US has to exploit is Turkey's backcourt. Press, press, press. Their guards are weak.

Quite the contrary. Turkey undeservingly found themselves as one of the two sides in this final and as such, I am looking forward to a manhandling from team USA.

Well let's see how the refs will go to work for the Turks.

Oh come on. Serbia played great yesterday but today everyone saw their real capacity. Lithies beat them easily.
