Good move for the spurs imo. While I think they overpaid for Ginobili and Jefferson, they certainly didn't with TP. If he has a good season, like the one he had in 08/09, he would have won more.
But like some said here, playing his career for a very smart and professional organisation, that makes sense for him as well.

He would have been great with the knicks. Easily better than Felton, that's for sure......

He won't ever have a season liike the one he had in '09 ever again...not on a team that's loaded with talent. We didn't have Jefferson, MIP runner up George Hill, Dejuan Blair at the time to along with the SA big 3.

Good signing for the spurs imo, honestly think he could have gotten more but I'm glad they kept him. Spurs are going to competitive every year so I understand why he would sign with the spurs instead of jumping ship.

I've always thought the team and system made him look better than he is. But he got the bucks, so more power to him.

How do you feel about San Antonio allowing 109 points on 53.2% shooting to the Pacers?

No Splitter not a problem. If that happens again with Splitter on the board then yes we have much to worry.

Pretty solid deal, always impressed by how the Spurs FO operates. Looks like the Spurs Big 3 might play all their years together for the same ballclub which is something you really don't see in the NBA. Spurs fans are spoiled rotten I tells ya.

This is where watching the actual game helps, but statwise at least the Spurs got the memo at halftime and the Pacers only got 44 pts in the 2nd half. If you watched the game, a lot of the shots were contested beforehand too - when NBA players get hot, they get hot!

Do you even know how the cap works?`

plus parker would have been redundant on the Heat with Wade and James on the team.

Didnt think the Spurs were gonna extend him honestly. He's a great player, but I thought they were just gonna let him walk and hand over the PG spot to Hill.

Considering what they signed him for, this isn't a bad move at all. Worst case scenario they trade him to another team for some young pieces to put around Hill, Blair and Splitter if SA decides to blow it all up. Ginobili won't be that hard to move either with only two years left on his contract after this season. TP's new contract gives SA options.

This is our last chance to win a title so don't count out the Spurs just yet especially when we get Splitter back next week.

Hmm. I don't think you're Spurs are contending for a title this year. You know better than to take the season opener that seriously.

Unless they figure out how to use RJ in some miraculous application that they didn't think of last season, I don't see it happening. Duncan and Ginobili are still very effective, but they've lost the step they need to carry a team to the finals. We saw that last year in round two when Phoenix swept you, (and LA swept my Jazz :x ).

SA should be very happy with this signing. Tony Parker took a gamble here.

This is going to send shockwaves through New York. Its down to CP3, and Melo now for the Knicks.

Great signing for both parties. Spurs lock up a solid PG for years to come and TP gets a nice 50 mil contract.

Very rare 3 stars like Tony, Manu, and Duncan play there entire career with one ball club. Yes we Spurs fans are very spoiled. Nothing will satisfy us other than another ring. We are 2nd tier contenders but we still have a solid core and have sprinkled youth around it.

Last two years it was safe enough to count them out of title contention. This year it will only be safer because Duncan and Ginobili will be one more year older. Their advancing ages outweigh the role player's development.

The Spurs finished with the same Pythagorean W-L in '09-'10 as they did in '07-'08, the last year the Spurs were technically considered title contenders. In other words, even though last year's Spurs had the worst regular season record in the past decade, they played at the same level as the '08 Spurs despite the fact that our roster was fundamentally flawed due to the Jefferson trade. We had too much offensive talent and not enough defensive. This year Splitter should provide a big boost to the Spurs defense which was rated 8th last year despite the little defensive talent that we had.

Good for the Spurs fans, but bad for TP. Even if Duncan extends it looks like the Spurs are done. He will finish his days out a first or second round exit.

I thought that was kind of overpaying on the Spurs side, but very acceptable given how he deserves much more when he's consistently healthy, and how lots of clubs are gonna make him way larger offers (*ahem*Knicks*ahem*).
I haven't seen that extension coming either. I always love watching players spend 10+ years with the same franchise. The Spurs are lucky. But then, they're so damn good with drafting great players with low picks, so they kind of deserve that.
